These lists make very good references for comparing your own results
obtained with the benchmarks, to hundreds of other systems. See below
for descriptions.

PC-Bench v9.0 is a hardware specific test based on your video card,
hard drive, cpu, cache, etc.

Norton SI v8.0 is a very good benchmark for comparison of CPU
speed/performance, and is not highly affected by other system components.

3D-Bench, on the other hand, is affected by many different system
components, though it mainly tests the video card and cpu. 3D-Bench uses
a 'virtual reality' animation and records the frame rate obtained for the
comparison.

CompTest v2.59/v2.60 tests a complete array of system
components, though it stands above the others for its ability to
test these components separately instead of averaging the tests and
displaying one number. For example, it can test the throughput of your
level 1 (cpu) cache memory separately from the throughput of the level 2
(external) cache memory.

VidSpeed v4.0 is well known for it's ability to test only the video
card. It is still affected by other system speed factors such as
wait-states, but not as highly as 3D-Bench.

All of the lists include information on how to submit your results to
the original list compiler so that your results will appear on future
versions of the lists. I will update the lists on this site as the
updates from the original creators become availiable.
