                      IMPORTANT! Disk Manager
                        Upgrade Information

If you have a hard drive(s) installed using a previous version of Disk
Manager's Dynamic Drive Overlay option, you can upgrade to this version
of Disk Manager simply by updating the existing Dynamic Drive Overlay
and the master boot record (MBR) boot code to your drives. Please follow
the steps below:

     1. Run Disk Manager and choose the Maintenance menu.

     2. From the Maintenance Menu:
          A. Choose Write Boot Code in MBR. Select the first drive and
update the MBR. Repeat for all drives in your system.
          B. Choose Update Dynamic Drive Overlay. Verify the switches
(if you did not previously modify these, accept the defaults)
and write the Dynamic Drive Overlay.

     3. Exit Disk Manager and reboot from the hard drive. Verify that
the blue Dynamic Drive Overlay displays the correct version number.

Installing Disk Manager to Run Under Other Operating Systems:
If you are using Dynamic Drive Overlay and wish to add an operating
system other than DOS/Windows or Windows 95, see the "Operating System
Installation" section of the On-Line User Manual for important
information. To access the On-Line User Manual, select the View/Print
On-Line Manual option from the Main menu or type: DM/H.

                      Upgrade Troubleshooting

"NO DRIVES FOUND REQUIRING USE OF DRIVER"
Previous versions of Disk Manager (versions 6.xx) software would install
the device driver DMDRVR.BIN to load Dynamic Drive Overlay (DDO) if you
added a drive that required it on a system not using it on the boot
drive. If this was the case, you would see a message displayed that
includes the phrase "NO DRIVES FOUND REQUIRING USE OF DRIVER" when the
driver was loaded.

If you see this message while installing your new version of Disk
Manager software, run DMCFIG.EXE from your Disk Manager 6.xx diskette
using the /U option (type A:DMCFIG /U). Uninstall DMDRVR.BIN and remove
its files from your hard drive. If you do not have your Disk Manager
6.xx diskette, you can disable the driver by simply removing the
DEVICE=DMDRVR.BIN statement from your CONFIG.SYS file.

If you have drives with WRITE-READ or READ-ONLY partitions, which are
controlled exclusively by DMDRVR.BIN, you need to completely reinstall
those drives with this version of Disk Manager.

WARNING: ALL DATA on a drive WILL BE LOST if it is reinstalled. You
should always make a full backup before reinstalling.
