BETHESDA POWERS UP X(N)GINE(tm) AT E3.

Bethesda will introduce X(n)gine(Tm), a powerful new 3-D
graphics engine that incorporates numerous technology advances
that will make PC computer games more realistic than ever before,
at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3 May 11-13th 1995.

X(n)Gine raises the bar in 3-D technology by integrating the best
aspects of the most sophisticated computer games currently on the
market and taking them to the next level. The result is a
combinations of quicker actions, unrestricted viewing angles and
complete freedom of movement for the most realistic interactive
computer simulations in the industry.

Three years in the making, this powerful, proprietary technology
integrates full 360 degree rotation with fully textured polygons,
multiple phong shaded light sources, SVGA/VGA graphics and
specialized video effects. X(n)gine can generate weather effects
such as snow, sleet, and fog; realistic shading and fully
textured, contoured fractal terrain.

For instance, in Bethesda's soon-to-be-released THE ELDER
SCROLLS: DAGGERFALL, the player can stop by a stream and watch a
waterfall while listening to the ambient sounds of birds and
running water and actually feel as if they are there. The same
X(n)gine also has the flexibility and power to allow a player in
TERMINATOR: FUTURE SHOCK to fly a captured HK around and through
the ruins of Los Angeles.

"We've taken the best elements from the highest quality game
engines out there, and improved upon them", said President Chris
Weaver. "X(n)gine has the immediacy of DOOM and DARK FORCES and
the greater flexibility of DESCENT all in one engine."

The result is cutting-edge 3-D technology that is incorporated in
a number of Bethesda's 1995-1996 product line, including THE
TERMINATOR: FUTURE SHOCK, THE ELDER SCROLLS: DAGGERFALL, X-CAR
and the upcoming TENTH PLANET, developed in partnership with
Centropolis Entertainment, creators of the popular science
fiction films STARGATE and UNIVERSAL SOLDIER.

"X(n)gine is the most sophisticated 3-D engine currently
available." Weaver said. "The speed, clarity and dynamics are
better than all the others within the 3-D genre. It's as
realistic as you can get within the current limitations of the
PC. We believe it is also the fastest at moving real world
polygons."
