Using DeltaGraph Pro 3.5 on Systems with 4MB of RAM
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DeltaGraph Pro 3.5 runs best on machines that have 8MB or more physical RAM, although it will run on machines with only 4MB.

Follow these instructions to prepare your 4MB machine to run DeltaGraph Pro 3.5.

1. Make sure you have at least 450K of free DOS memory before launching Microsoft. Use a DOS memory manager such as EMM386 or QEMM to free the required memory, if necessary.

2. Set up a Windows permanent swap file of at least 10MB using the virtual memory options in the 386 Enhanced control panel.

3. Use a text editor such as Notepad or SysEdit to open system.ini in your Windows directory. Locate the [386enh] section and add the following line:

    PageOverCommit=8

This line allows your system to use more hard disk space as virtual memory, allowing for a larger swap file and giving you the ability to run DeltaGraph. Since virtual memory is much slower than physical RAM, DeltaGraph's performance will not be optimal. Performance will improve dramatically if you upgrade to 8MB of RAM.

4. Save system.ini and restart Windows.

ATI Mach 32 Driver
------------------------------
If you have an ATI video card and use the Mach 32 driver, you may experience problems selecting objects in the Chart view. If this occurs, you need to change some configuration settings for your video driver:

1. Use a text editor (i.e., Notepad, SysEdit) to open the win.ini file in your Windows directory.

2. Locate the [Mach] section and add the following lines:

    DeviceBitmap=off
    ScanLine=off

If these lines are already in the [Mach] section, make sure that they are both set to off.

3. Restart Windows.

This should solve selection problems in DeltaGraph.

Preferences
-------------------
If you are upgrading from a previous version, DeltaGraph's preferences file will be replaced with an updated version the first time you launch the application. You will need to reset your Preferences as desired.

Blended Polygons and Clipping
---------------------------------------------------
Due to a Win32s limitation, polygons with blends will sometimes fail to clip under Windows 3.1. This is indicated by blends "overflowing" to the rectangular area surrounding polygons. This problem does not occur under Windows NT, and will not occur in printed output.

Associating .DG3 Files under Windows NT
--------------------------------------------------------------------
The installer is unable to automatically associate .DG3 with DeltaGraph Pro 3.5 under Windows NT. Follow these instructions to do so manually:

1. Launch the File Manager.

2. Choose "Associate..." from the File menu.

3. Type DG3 in the "Files with extension" text box.

4.  Click the "Browse..." button.

5. Locate dgpro35.exe in your DeltaGraph Pro 3.5 directory (usually \dgpro35) and click "OK."

6. Click "OK" to exit the Associate dialog and exit File Manger.

Windows NT on RISC Machines
---------------------------------------------------
DeltaGraph Pro 3.5 is not compatible with Windows NT running on RISC processors. Contact DeltaPoint for information regarding the future availability of a version for RISC machines running Windows NT.

CGM, WPG, and HPGL Export
------------------------------------------------
CGM, WPG, and HPGL export are unavailable in this version. Contact DeltaPoint for information regarding the future availability of these filters.

Macintosh to Windows Custom Library Converter
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you have Macintosh Custom Libraries that you need to use with the Windows version of DeltaGraph, a library conversion utility is available from DeltaPoint. This utility converts version 3.x Macintosh libraries to version 3.5 Windows libraries. It does not, however, convert Windows libraries to Macintosh format. Call DeltaPoint to order this free utility or download it from one of DeltaPoint's online areas.

OLE Server Capability
---------------------------------------
DeltaGraph Pro 3.5 does not currently support OLE as a server. DeltaPoint is developing a solution for users who need this capability. Contact us for more information.

DeltaGraph 2.0 Compatibility
----------------------------------------------
Please note that while DeltaGraph Pro 3.5 can open version 2.0 files, it cannot save documents in 2.0 format.

About Win32s
----------------------
DeltaGraph Pro 3.5 is a 32-bit application. In order to run under Windows 3.1, a set of files called Win32s must first be installed. Win32s includes an executable program that loads 32-bit applications (like DeltaGraph) in Windows 3.1, a set of translator DLLs that change 32-bit function calls to Win16 function calls, and a virtual device driver for enhanced memory management.

If you already have Win32s installed on your system, the DeltaGraph installer checks the version. If the installed version is older than the version included with DeltaGraph, then the installer will update Win32s. Otherwise, the installer will make no changes.

Removing Win32s
------------------------------
You can use DeltaGraph's Un-Installer to remove Win32s from your system. However, if you need to remove Win32s manually, follow these instructions:

1. Use a text editor (i.e., Notepad, SysEdit) to remove the following line from the [386enh] section of your system.ini file:

    device=\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\WIN32S\W32S.386

2. Remove the following line from the [boot] section of your system.ini file.

    device=mmsystem.dll winmn16.dll

3. Exit and restart Windows.

4. Delete the following files from the \windows\system directory:

    w32sys.dll
    win32s16.dll
    win32s.ini

5. Delete the following directory and its contents:

    \windows\system\win32s

Un-Installing DeltaGraph
---------------------------------------
If for any reason you need to remove DeltaGraph from your system, double-click the DeltaGraph Uninstaller icon in your DeltaGraph Pro 3.5 program group.

The Uninstaller will remove all DeltaGraph application and supporting files, including Win32s, from your system. The Uninstaller examines the win32s.ini file for other registered 32-bit applications. If it finds none, it will offer to remove Win32s from your system at the same time it removes DeltaGraph.

Warning: Some older 32-bit applications do not register themselves in win32s.ini. Verify that no other applications that require Win32s are present on your system before allowing the DeltaGraph Uninstaller to remove Win32s. See "About Win32s" for more information.

Warning 2: If you have set up DeltaGraph to run from a shared network directory, the Uninstaller gives you the choice of removing local files, network files, or both. DO NOT UN-INSTALL NETWORK FILES IF THE APPLICATION IS IN USE BY OTHER USERS OR IF YOU DO NOT HAVE PROPER ACCESS PRIVELEGES. DOING SO COULD RESULT IN UNDESIRED LOSS OF DATA.

While the Uninstaller does allow you to select files in your DeltaGraph directory that you would like to save, remember to use it judiciously.
