2. System Requirements
======================

2.1. Minimum Free Conventional Memory
=====================================
At least 512 KBytes of available conventional memory.

2.2. Install to Local DOS Volume
================================
This software is designed to be installed on a local DOS disk
only. Installation to a network volume is NOT supported.
Additionally, MS Windows must be installed on the local hard disk,
not on a network volume.

3. General Notes
================
A rare equipment configuration can result in an ERROR:710
"Expected to find a file header on the media".
If this condition occurs, your files may be recovered by
executing the TAPE.EXE program supplied with this release
(version TD-5.3.3).
This may be executed from the "MS-DOS" box in WINDOWS
or by exiting from WINDOWS and executing the program
from MS-DOS.

3.1. Review Log File
====================
Filesafe First provides a Log file which is updated after every
backup and restore operation. It is highly recommended that you
review your Filesafe First log file on a regular basis. To view
the log file select View Log from the Filesafe First Utilities
menu.

3.2. Using SHARE.EXE with Restore and open files
================================================
If you have SHARE loaded and you perform a restore of files that
are open and in use, these files will be skipped. If you do not
have SHARE loaded, open files that are in use will NOT be skipped,
but rather will be restored. This may cause your Windows
environment to become unstable. We recommend that you exit Windows
and re-boot after performing such a Restore.

3.3. Accelerator Board Configurations
=====================================
The Base Address silkscreened on the Avalanche or Mach2
Accelerator Boards shows 3E7. The Base Address is listed in the
Hardware Setup dialog box in Filesafe First as 3E0. These values
are both correct.

4. Compatibility
================

4.1. Device Drivers
===================
It may be nessessary to remove existing device drivers from your
Windows SYSTEM.INI file. To remove them, use an ASCII editor, such
as NOTEPAD, and delete the appropriate DEVICE= statement from your
SYSTEM.INI file located in your WINDOWS directory. Some of the
common program device drivers are listed below:

Central Point.............CPBVXD.386
Norton and Conner.........VFINTD.386
Colorado Memory Systems...CMSTAPE.386

4.2. Interchange
================
Filesafe First adheres to the QIC tape format specifications.
This ensures compatibility with other vendor's tape backup
products that also adhere to the QIC specifications. However, if
you experience difficulties restoring data from other vendor's
tapes, use the original tape software.

Mountain recommends the use of preformatted tapes. If a properly
formatted tape is unavailable a complete format may now be done
from the "UTILITIES" menu of FFW.

5. Notes about Local Area Networks (LANs)
=========================================

5.1. Artisoft LANtastic
=======================
The network directories \LANTASTI and \LANTASTI.NET are excluded
from the backup, since they maintain open files. If you need to
restore a LANtastic server, you will need to reinstall your
LANtastic Network Operating System from their original diskettes.

5.2. Novell NetWare
===================
Novell NetWare versions 2.15, 2.2, 3.11, and 3.12 are supported,
including NetWare 386 Bindery files, NetWare 286 compatible
Directory Rights, NetWare 286 compatible Directory and File
Attributes, and the Last Accessed Date. For best results, always
