Other Ways to Improve Print Speed in Windows
==============================================
To improve printing speed, you can try the following;

	*Turn off the "Print Manager" in the Windows "Control Panel".
	 This may increase your printing speed by as much as 25% depending
	 on the computer you are using.

	*Under the 386 Enhanced icon in the Windows "Control Panel", add
	 or create a permanent swap file that is from 4MB to 8MB. See
	 your Windows documentation for these instructions.

	*In the "Printer Setup" dialog box, choose "Plain Paper" and
	 "Color" when printing color images. "Screen-Matching" takes
	 longer to process in the computer.

	*In the "Option" dialog box, choose "Diffusion" only when printing
	 final output or photographic images. Choosing "Pattern"
	 allows documents to print as much as 20% faster.

	*Use only one software program at a time and unload any screen
	 saving utilities or programs stored in Windows background; this
	 frees up more memory for Windows processing.

	*If you will be printing text in black ink only, choose "Black and
	 White" rather than "Grayscale".

	*Print draft documents in "Black and White" rather than "Color",
	 or use "High Speed" when printing color.

 	*Limit the number of colors on each page; too many colors can make
	 the image confusing and less effective as well as cause the print
	 speed to slow down.

	*Use primary colors when printing presentation graphics; black,
	 cyan, magenta, yellow, blue, green and red

Print Quality Option
=====================

and resolution

  180x180 dpi to improve your application's processing time.

- Normal

Printing Envelopes
==================
When printing envelopes with the BJC-4000 and the auto-sheet feeder,
move the paper selection lever on the auto-sheet feeder to the forward
position. This will result in the best paper handling for envelopes.
Also, make sure to print with the option 'Print Current Page' or set the
print range to be from '1' to '1'. This will ensure that the
Application will not prompt you to insert a second envelope after
printing.

For thick paper, open the cover and set the green paper thickness lever
(inside the printer) to the right position.

Windows System Options
======================
When setting up your Windows system to print with the BJC-4000, please
consider the following options to optimize your printing performance.

- Fast Printing Direct to Port: This option, available from within
  Printers in the Windows Control Panel, should always be ON for best
  printing results.

- Use DOS 5.0 or higher & HIMEM command to maximize the available 'real'
  memory available. Also use a memory manage like Memmaker, OEMM or
  386 Max to maximize available DOS 'real' memory.

- Ensure a minimum of 4MB to 8MB of permanent Windows SWAPFILE.

- Increase your RAM memory to more than 8MB. Increasing RAM memory will
  result in faster printing and reduce compatibility problems with
  applications. If you must print in a low memory situation, and are
  having problems with your application, try turning off screen-matched
  color or reducing resolution to correct the problem.

- ATI display driver. If you are using ATI's display driver version 1.5

	- 6. You will prompt to restart Windows. Press "Yes" to this
	     query.

- Diamond video card and display driver. If you have a Diamond video
  card and its display driver installed in your computer, and you are
  experiencing problems with TrueType fonts larger than 40 points when
  printing, do the following:

	- 1. Run the "Windows Setup".
