+Introduction++
In order to reach the Meuse before the Americans
regroup, Kampfgruppe Peiper must secure a road and
bridges to cross several intermediate streams.
At the village of Trois Points (literally - Three
Bridges), an important set of crossings is guarded
only by a small engineering company. Lead elements
of the Sixth Panzer Army race to grab the bridges
before they can be wired for demolition. If grab-
bed, the entire American rear will be wide open.

+Aftermath+
For 15 minutes, the engineers frantically wired
explosives while a lone antitank gun held off
Peiper's armor. Just as the Germans took out the
last gun and raced for the bridges, two tremendous
explosions erupted in their faces. The Germans would
have to detour elsewhere.

+Introduction++
Stopped at Trois Points, elements of the Sixth
Panzer Army detour Northeast along the Ambleve,
capturing a fortlike tuberculosis sanatorium with a
commanding view of the main road. Waiting for
reinforcements, Peiper is continually harassed by
American raids. Finally, American engineers clear
a path through the woods behind the sanatorium and
launch a major assault, to link up with units
already in nearby Stoumont.

+Aftermath+
As American tanks roared through the forest gap,
Peiper's men, outnumbered and low on ammunition,
were forced to pull back. GI's discovered more
than 200 sick children and old people huddled in the
Sanitorium's cellar. Miraculously, not a single
one had been hurt.

+Introduction++
As the German offensive slows elsewhere due to
fuel shortages, one thrust has promise. If the 2nd
SS Panzer can move 25 miles north and take Liege,
with its enormous fuel dump, the entire offensive
might be reignited. On the highway north, the only
protection is the village of Manhay, itself pro-
tected by a small roadblock. On Christmas Eve, a
modest American garrison is surprised by SS Panzers
and can only hope to slow them down.

+Aftermath+
The Americans were caught off guard and cut down
before they could muster an adequate defense. The
2nd Panzer quickly rumbled past the roadblocks and
into Manhay.

+Introduction++
After clearing the highway, the 2nd SS Panzer roars
into Manhay. The Americans patch up a quick
defense, and send elements of the 75th Infantry
into town to reinforce it and patch the gaping
breach opening up in the Allied lines.

+Aftermath+
The young rookies of the 75th performed surprisingly
well, holding the Germans back long enough for
reinforcements to arrive and reinforce Manhay. Once
again, a promising German opening had slowed to a
halt just a little short of a serious breakthrough.

+Introduction++
Eleven Days into the offensive, German armies are
running low on supplies, Americans are regrouping,
and most important, the weather is clearing,
allowing the Americans to fully exercise their air
superiority. Ernie Harmon's 'Hell on Wheels'
tankers are assigned the task of rolling back the
2nd Panzer, at the point of the furthest German
advance, southwest of Celles. The Germans must
hold them off and hope for poor weather.

+Aftermath+
With heavy artillery and airpower, the Americans
were able to batter this and other German pockets
near Celles. The Germans withdrew, but only 600
of the more than 4000 troops in the pocket made
it out.

+Introduction++
Days after clearing a thin supply line to relieve
Bastogne, Patton launches two fresh divisions to
the northeast and northwest. At the same time,
German General Manteuffel is sending two powerful
armored columns of his own to capture the village
of Lutrebois, to seal off Bastogne once again.
The attacks smash head on into each other, as
Panthers strike Lutrebois from the East, and
Shermans roll up on the village from the South.

+Aftermath+
The infantry already in Lutrebois were able to
hold up the main German assault. Meanwhile, the
Shermans ambushed the Panzers and were able to
wreck the main force at a fairly light cost.
