Installing the Project Manager Module
------------------------------------------------------------------
Before installing this Project Manager Module, be sure that you
have the latest PackRat 5.011 code on your system by verifying
that your packrat.exe file is dated 10-18-93 or later.
Follow these steps to install the Project Manager Module:

1.  Backup your config.pdb, alerts.prl, attaches.pra, and all
user (*.prd and *.pri) files to another directory on your hard 
drive or to a diskette. 
2.  If you have entered any information into the current
Project/Resource forms, you will need to export the information
from each of the forms to a text file before you begin the
install.  You will then need to import the information into the
new Project/Resource Manager forms once this module is 
installed.Refer to Import/Export in the PackRat Reference Manual 
forspecific information on exporting information.
3.  Once you have exported your Project/Resource data to a text
file, delete the Project/Resource data from PackRat and then
close PackRat and any other open applications.
4.  Insert the Project Manager Module disk in the appropriate
drive.
5.  Open your Windows File Manager and copy the 5011PJRS.EXE
file from the diskette to your PackRat directory.
6.  Exit Windows and return to the DOS prompt.
7.  Change to your PackRat directory. (ex. CD\PackRat)
8.  Type 5011PJRS and press [Enter].  This opens a self 
expanding zip file.  
9.  You will be prompted to overwrite the already existing 
PackRat files.  Press Y from your keyboard to overwrite the 
existing file each time you are prompted.
10. Start Windows. 
11.   If your Packrat.exe file is NOT dated 10/18/93:
	skip to step 12.  
        If your Packrat.exe file is dated 10/18/93:
	go into File Manager and delete the attaches.pra file from 
	your PackRat directory.  The attaches.pra file will be 
	recreated when you reload PackRat.
12.  Double-click on the PackRat icon to start PackRat.
13. From the PackRat File menu, select Install.  The Install 
Extension Disk dialog box displays.
14. Click on the Browse button to locate and select the 
PJRSFMTB.PRX file from your PackRat directory.  Click OK on 
the Select File dialog box.  
15. Click Install on the Install Extension Disk dialog box.
As the new Project and Resource forms are being installed, 
you will be prompted whether or not you wish to overwrite 
the Project Task form and the new Project and Resource 
toolbars.  Answer Yes to all.  When completed, click OK.
16. Select Forms from the Tools menu and then select Resource 
as the Category.  Highlight the Resource form and click the 
Deletebutton to delete the Resource form.  Use the new 
"Resource In Use" form for Resource Management. 
17. You will need to change the command used by the Search 
button so that it will also use the Resource In Use form.
Follow these steps:  
* Select Action Buttons from the Tools menu.  
* Select Resources as the Category in the Select Action Button
dialog box.  
* Highlight the Search Resources button and click the Edit 
button to display the Action Button dialog box.  
* Click anywhere in the Command: box to display the current 
command being used.  
* Change the command so that it reads:
Object_SearchForm("Resources:Resource In Use")
* Click OK on the Action Button dialog box and click Close on 
the Select Action Button dialog box.
18. If you exported information in Step 2 above, then you now
need to import the information into the new Project/Resource
Manager forms.  Refer to Import/Export in the PackRat Reference
Manual for specific information on importing information.
19.  Exit PackRat.  If your Packrat.exe file is dated 10/18/93, go into File Manager
and delete the attaches.pra file from your PackRat directory.  The 
attaches.pra file will be recreated when you reload PackRat.

You are now ready to begin Project and Resource Management.
For information on Project and Resource Management, select
the Projects/Resources option from the Help menu.

To access the M-B-A-nalyst Calculator, select CALCULATOR from
the TOOLS menu.  For information on using the calculator,
select the desired Help option from the Calculator Help menu. 
Tip: To maintain the Calculator across folders, select
Keep-On-Top from the Calculator Edit menu.

Updating the PIL Files
-----------------------------------------------------------------
PackRat has now updated the PIL to work with MicroSoft Word for
Windows 6.0, MicroSoft Excel 5.0, and WordPerfect 6.0.  You 
need to follow these steps if you wish to use the PIL with any 
of these applications.
1. With the Project Manager Module disk still in your disk 
drive, open File Manager and copy the pilupdat.exe (self-
expanding zipfile) to your temp directory.
2. Double-click on the pilupdat.exe to extract the updated 
files.
   * Copy the pil6.dot file from your temp directory to the
     template sub-directory of Word 6.0.
   * Copy pil5.xla to the xlstart sub-directory of Excel 5.0.
   * Copy the following files to the macros sub-directory of
     WordPerfect 6.0:     prfax.wcm
			  savedoc.wcm
			  saveas.wcm
			  fileopen.wcm
			  findname.wcm
			  findtext.wcm
			  findexp.wcm
			  insmerge.wcm
			  prmerge.wcm
			  pilhelp.wcm
			  packrat.wpt
3. Delete pilupdat.exe and all of it's contained files from 
your temp directory.

For WordPerfect 6.0 you need to select the PackRat template as
default template.
1. Select Preferences from the File menu to display the 
Preferences dialog box.
2. Select File from the Preferences menu and the File 
Preferences dialog box displays.
3. Click the Template radio button, select packrat.wpt as the
Default file, and click OK.
4. Click Close on the Preferences dialog box.  The PackRat menu
is added to the Main menu bar of WordPerfect 6.0.

For Microsoft Word 6.0 you need to load the PIL macros.
1. Open the pil6.dot file that you copied to the template 
subdirectory of Word.
2. Select the Install PackRat Macros radio button and click OK.
3. From the Install Polaris Integration Library for Word for Windows
dialog box that appears, select the macros you would like to install 
and click OK.
4. The PIL macros are loaded for Word.
5. Exit Word to save your PackRat macros.
