README - WAVES

Waves is a utility supplied with RCD-PC which does the following:

*	Converts .WAV files of any sampling rate and resolution to 44.1
kHz and 16 bits in one step. A group of files converted together
is saved together in one new WAV file.

*	As a separate step, converts 44.1 kHz 16-bit WAV files to Red
Book standard audio tracks. Again, a group of files converted
together is saved together in one new file with the extension
        RBK.

1.	To start the program, double-click on its icon in Program Manager.
        The WAVES window will appear.

2.	To create a new list of sound files to be treated, click on the
        New List button.

3.	Click on the Add button. A standard Windows selection dialog box
will appear, from which you may select the WAV files you wish to
add to the List. You can select multiple files in the File Name
box by pressing the SHIFT key (to select several files in
sequence) or the CTRL key (to select several files out of
        sequence).

4.	To save the list, click on the Save List button. The list will be
saved to a file with the extension .WAL, and can be opened another
time using the Open List button.

5.	To deleting a file from the list, highlight it by clicking on it
(you can also use the keyboard arrows to move the highlight bar up
and down), then click on the Remove button.

6.	New files are always added before the file currently highlighted
by the bar. To change the order of files already in the list, you
will have to delete the file you want to move and re-add it at the
        correct position.

7.	If any of the .WAV files in the list are not already in the 44.1
kHz 16-bit format, you will need to convert them using the
appropriate button before they can be converted to Red Book
standard. Click on the 44.1 kHz s 16 button to process them. This
can take a long time, depending on the size and number of files
involved. The selection bar on the list will move from file to
        file as each is completed.

8.	Once all files in the list are up to the correct standard, click
on the Red Book button to convert them to Red Book standard
format. This can take a long time, depending on the size and
number of files involved. The selection bar on the list will move
from file to file as each is completed.

9.	At any time during the process you can click on the Cancel button
in the lower right corner of the dialog box to stop. This will
abort the conversion and erase any files converted up to that
        point.
