Version 1.08
Congratulations on your purchase of "Flying Colors!"
To supply you with up-to-the-minute information, we
have included the following:

TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS

Depending upon your system configuration, creating a
blank canvas any larger than the size of a Full Printed
Page may cause the performance to be slower or lead
to an error.

Always exit Flying Colors properly because you will not
be prompted to save if you Alt+Tab to Program Manager or
any other shell and then exit Windows.

VIDEO DISPLAY REQUIREMENTS

Flying Colors requires that your video display driver be set to
256 colors only. If you receive an error message regarding your
display, check your current video driver.

To check your video mode:

o	From the Program Manager, double-click the
Windows Setup icon in the Main program group.
o	From the Options menu on the Windows Setup box,
	select Change System Settings.
o	Click the arrow to the far right of the word "Display".
You will see a list of video drivers.

If your current driver is listed as VGA, or 16 color, you must
change to a higher color driver to run Flying Colors. Consult
your user manual for instructions on how to change or upgrade your
driver.

ATI MACH32

PC TOOLS VSAFE and MS-DOS VSAFE

PC Tools VSAFE or MS-DOS 6.0 VSAFE may interfere with the
install process. To disable VSAFE before installing "Flying Colors",
exit Windows and type VSAFE /U, then press
Enter.

Restart your computer after installation of "Flying Colors" to turn
PC Tools VSAFE or MS-DOS VSAFE back on.

TANDY SENSATION USERS

Tandy's WinMate system does not automatically create the
"Flying Colors" icon or launch our program. We
suggest disabling WinMate and running directly from
Windows. If you have further questions about Tandy's
WinMate, please call Tandy Technical Support at (817) 878-
6875.

SCREEN SAVERS

If you are running a screen saver in the background, you may
experience video problems during the program. Disable the
screen saver and this should solve the problem.

NORTON DESKTOP, KIDDESK, PCTOOLS, TABWORKS OR OTHER
WINDOWS PROGRAM SHELLS

If you are using a program shell other than the Windows
Default Program Manager and experience trouble running the
Setup installation program or launching the program, try
changing the shell to the Windows' Program Manager.

To change the program shell:

o	First make a back up of your SYSTEM.INI file. Make
NO changes to this file until you have an accessible
backup in case you encounter problems.
o	Using the Windows Accessory Notepad (or any
other text only editor), open the SYSTEM..INI file
	located in the C:\WINDOWS directory.
o	Under the heading [boot], find the section "Shell=".
o Place a ";" in front of this line and then insert a
carriage return and type the line again without the ";".
o	Change the new shell= line to "shell=progman.exe".

When you are finished the lines should look as follows:

;shell=XXXXXXX
shell=progman.exe

Save the file and re-start Windows. Then click on the Flying Colors icon,
or run the installation program.

To return to your original program shell:

o	Open the SYSTEM.INI file using your text editor.
o	Delete the ";" in front of the old shell=XXXXXXX".
o	Place a ";" in front of the line which reads
	"shell=progman.exe".
o	Save the file and re-start Windows.

ERROR MESSAGES

If you receive an error message specifying a particular file
name, check that the following files are installed:

DIB.DRV installed to WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory
FLYC.EXE installed to FLYINGC directory

If either of these files are missing, run Setup again to re-install
them. You may also copy DIB.DRV directly from installation disk #1.

PROGRAM WON'T LAUNCH OR "OUT OF MEMORY" ERROR

Be sure your Virtual memory is set to permanent and that you
are using a swap file of at least 8000KB. Consult your
Windows documentation on how to set swap file sizes.

Also check your CONFIG.SYS file located in the root directory
(C:\ on most machines) for the line FILES= . On some
machines, changing the FILES line to FILES=99 may solve the
problem. Be sure to re-boot after making any changes to this
file.
