COMPRESSING MORE THAN ONE PRIMARY PARTITION

      BACKGROUND

When a hard disk contains more than one primary partition, only
one is visible at a time. Stacker's Express Setup compresses
every visible FAT-based fixed disk that has at least 5 MB of free
space. Therefore, the only primary partition that is compressed
by Stacker's Setup is the last-accessed primary partition.

      SOLUTION

After running Stacker Setup, restart the system from the hard
drive. From the Boot Manager menu, choose the primary partition
you want to compress to make it active.

If the partition is a DOS partition, when you get to a C
prompt, just run Stacker Setup again from the floppy disk.

If, however, the primary partition you want to compress is an
OS/2 boot drive you will have to do the following:

       1. Start your computer and select the Boot Manager option that
activates the OS/2 boot drive you wish to compress.
       2. After OS/2 has completed booting and you are at the Desktop,
           shutdown the system normally.
       3. When OS/2 notifies you that it is safe to reboot or restart,
place Stacker for OS/2 & DOS Disk 1 into drive A and
           restart.
       4. Run Setup from Disk 1. Stacker for OS/2 & DOS can now
identify and compress the proper drive. Just follow the
instructions on screen to select it.

Note: if the OS/2 partition is an IFS partition such as OS/2's
HPFS, it can't be compressed. See StacFax 64105.
