CTL3DV2.DLL
-----------
The User Manual states that CTL3DV2.DLL must be in the WINDOWS\SYSTEM
directory. It may also be in the WINDOWS directory. Note that it
should only be in one or the other. If it is found first somewhere
else in the path it may display the "CTL3DV2 Not Installed Properly"
message. On networks it is sometimes difficult to determine the
"official" WINDOWS or WINDOWS\SYSTEM directories. Press the small
button to the left of "R" in "Rev." in the Milestones, Etc. Help... About
box for a display of your WINDOWS and WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory names.

SHARE.EXE Alternative
---------------------
Microsoft has granted a license for all vendors of OLE 2.0
applications to redistribute a Windows-Only version of SHARE,
called VSHARE.386, which is only active while you are using Windows.
If you decide to use VSHARE.386, then follow the 6 steps outlined
in the following section.

Using VSHARE.386
----------------

If you are using applications that support object linking and
embedding (OLE) 2.0, you must run either SHARE.EXE or VSHARE.386.
VSHARE.386 eliminates the need for SHARE.EXE when you run Windows 3.1
or Windows for Workgroups in 386 enhanced mode. If you run Windows 3.1
in standard mode, you still need to run SHARE.EXE. If you run
applications that are not compatible with SHARE.EXE, and you run
Windows 3.1 in 386 enhanced mode, you may be able to use VSHARE.386
instead of SHARE.EXE.

To install the updated VSHARE.386 file
--------------------------------------

If you are running Windows for Workgroups 3.1 or 3.11 in 386 enhanced
mode, Windows NT, or Windows 4.0 you are already using VSHARE.386.
If you are running Windows 3.1, use the following procedure to install
VSHARE.386 version 3.11.0.401:

1. Quit Windows 3.1.

2. Insert the Milestones, Etc. Installation DISK 1 in the floppy
   drive.

3. To copy the file to the Windows SYSTEM subdirectory, type the
following at the MS-DOS command prompt and then press ENTER

      copy <drive>:\vshare.386 <destination>

where <drive> is the floppy disk drive containing the DISK 1
and <destination> is the drive and directory of your Windows SYSTEM
   subdirectory.

For example, if DISK 1 is in drive A and your Windows
directory is called WINDOWS and is on drive C, type the following
at the MS-DOS command prompt and then press ENTER:

      copy a:\vshare.386 c:\windows\system

4. Using a text editor (such as MS-DOS Editor), edit your AUTOEXEC.BAT
file and remove the command for SHARE.EXE.

5. Edit the [386Enh] section in your SYSTEM.INI file to add the
   following line:

      device=vshare.386

6. Reboot your computer (CTRL-ALT-DEL) and then Restart Windows.
