Forms Xpert Evaluation Manual
=============================
The Forms Xpert system incorporates the power of sophisticated
tax preparation software in a package that brings together over
100 forms not found in any other single product. Forms Xpert
supports the preparation of such filings as not-for-profit
returns, gift and estate tax returns, business income tax
returns, employee benefit plan returns, payroll returns, and more
all in one affordable package. Millions of these forms are
prepared annually; most of them are prepared by hand. With Forms
Xpert, that's no longer necessary.

To use Forms Xpert, all you do is choose a desired form from the
selection list and the system displays it on your computer screen
for quick, easy data entry. Forms Xpert also performs all form
calculations and data carryovers automatically, and it provides
other intelligent tax prep features such as guided data entry and
data validation. When you want to print completed forms, Forms
Xpert generates IRS-approved reproductions of the original forms
on any HP-compatible laser printer, ready to sign and send.

QTOUR and enter from the A> prompt.

System Requirements
-------------------
You need the following hardware configuration to run Forms Xpert:

* 500 KB of conventional RAM memory (550 KB recommended)

the program. When form recalulation is disabled you may press F4 to
recalculate the current page of a form.

--------------------------------------
When you start Forms Xpert for the first time, you might want to

section of each form unless you suppress it at either the system
or client level. When you are done, press Esc twice to return to
the Main Menu.

Form Preparation at a Glance
----------------------------
The first step in preparing a form for a client is to create a
new client file or select an existing client file. ** You must
open a client file before you can access any forms **.

A client file contains your form selection(s) and the data you
enter on those form(s) for a specific client. Once you create a
client file, that file can only access the forms contained in the
Forms Volume that was current when the file was created.
Therefore, always make sure you are using the appropriate Forms
Volume before creating a new client file.

Creating a New Client File
--------------------------
From the Main Menu, select File.

From the File Menu, choose New. The New File window that opens
has two fields. (A field is the space provided for data entry.)
In the first field, type a description of the file and press
Enter. In the next field, type any valid file name up to five
characters long and press Enter. The system will save the file to
the current file directory, displayed at the bottom of your
screen.

When you return to the File Menu, the system automatically opens
the newly created file and displays its name at the bottom of
your screen.

If a file is currently open when you create a new file, Forms
Xpert prompts you to save your changes before opening the new
file.

* Type Y to save the changes made to the open file.

* Type N to open the new file without saving your work. Be
sure you do not need to save your changes to the open file
  before you type N.

* Press Esc to return to the currently open file without
  creating the new file.

Opening an Existing File
------------------------
From the Main Menu, select File.

From the File Menu, choose Open to display a list of client files
found in the current file directory that are specific to the
current Forms Volume. Depending on the number of files included
in the selection list, you may not be able to see all file
selections in the Open File window at the same time. Refer to the
indicator bar along the right side of the window to determine
your current position in the selection list. Use the arrow keys
				 Page 3
or PgDn and PgUp to move the highlight bar through the entire
list of selections.

When you find the file you want to open, highlight it and press
Enter. The name of the selected file appears at the bottom of
your screen, and the screen displays the top of the first
selected form in the file.

If a client file is already open when you make your selection,
Forms Xpert prompts you to save your work before opening the
selected file. Type Y to save your work before opening the
selected file, type N to open the selected file without saving
your work, or press Esc to return to the open file.

Selecting Forms
---------------
Once a new or existing file has been opened, you may select the
form(s) to work on. If you are not at the Main Menu, press Esc
to return there. From the Main Menu, select Forms.

The Select Forms option is already highlighted on the Forms Menu.
Press Enter. The system displays the list of available forms (and
groups of forms that are considered one forms package) included
in the current Forms Volume. You cannot see the entire Form List
in the window. Refer to the indicator bar along the right side of
the window to determine your current position in the selection
list. To move through the list of forms, press , , PgDn, and
PgUp.

To select only one form, highlight the form you want and press
Enter. The Form List disappears and the name of the form (or the
names of the individual forms in the forms package) that you
selected appears in the Selected Forms window.

To select more than one form or form group, highlight each form
and press the + key. A check mark appears in the left-hand column
beside the form description. To remove the check mark, highlight
the form and press the - key. When you have tagged all the forms
you want, press Enter. The Form List disappears and the names of
the forms you selected appear on the Selected Forms window.

If you open an existing file with previous form selections, you
may select additional forms to work with by following the
preceding instructions.

the form appears on your screen, press Alt-M, or press Alt-Z for
the Hot Key Selection Menu and select Add Set(s) to Current Form.

printing appears. Highlight the form you want to print and press
the + key to tag it. To untag a form, press the - key while

suppresses the data from printing on the forms. Use this setting
to print reference copies of any form supported by Forms Xpert.

worksheets, such as General Information, when using the Print All
