TURBOTAX PERSONAL 1040, FINAL EDITION 1/11/95

1. USING THE FINAL EDITION AFTER THE HEADSTART EDITION

If you've been using the EasyStep approach with the
HeadStart Edition, when you start the Final Edition
TurboTax will NOT resume EasyStep at the place you
stopped in the HeadStart Edition. However, all the
data you entered in the HeadStart Edition will be
 present.

We recommend you select the EasyStep approach when you
start the Final Edition, then you proceed from the start
of the EasyStep system. You'll be able to review the
information you entered with the HeadStart Edition.

If you don't want to begin at the start of the EasyStep
system, select the Classic approach, then use the 'Goto
EasyStep' command on the Help Menu to enter the EasyStep
system at the step of your choice.

RESELECT YOUR PRINTER AND OTHER OPTIONS
When you start the Final Edition the first time, you
should set up the program options the way you did for
the HeadStart Edition. In particular, be sure to use
the 'Printer setup' command to select your printer
 from the Printer List again.

2. ALL FINAL EDITION FORMS APPROVED FOR FILING

You must use the Final Edition to prepare the IRS copy
of your tax return. All the printed forms have been
approved by the IRS, except Form 8453 in Substitute
(Text) format. The graphic Form 8453 is approved.

3. IMPORTING TO FORM 1099-R WORKSHEET OR SCHEDULE E

Pension income and IRA income must be reported on
different copies of the Form 1099-R Worksheet. The
Copy Number for Import is determined in Quicken when
you assign tax categories to your transactions.

Rental income and royalty income must be reported for
separate properties on Schedule E Page 1 or Schedule
E1-Extra. The Copy (Property) Number for Import is
determined in Quicken when you assign tax categories
 to your transactions.

4. IMPORT - NEW VIEW BUTTON

We've added a VIEW button to the Import dialog box.
If you've used the Import command to import data from
a financial management program, the VIEW button will
display a list of the most recently imported data.
This list is identical to the list that is available
for viewing immediately after you import the data.

5. GRAPHIC FORM - NEW PRINT POSITION OPTION

We've added two options to the Select Printer dialog
box. The VERTICAL and HORIZONTAL values determine the
starting print position on the paper when you print a
graphic Form 1040, Form 1040A or Form 8453.

The default value for each option is 0.0. You can
enter a value from -0.5 to 0.5. This means you can
move the starting print position of the graphic form
up to 1/2 inch in any direction (up, down, left or
right) if that's necessary to meet the IRS margin
requirements that are discussed in Chapter 4 of the
 User Manual.

6. SNOW FLAG OPTION REMOVED

The 'Snow flag' option that is mentioned on page 28
of the User Manual has been removed from the Monitor
Options dialog box because the program takes care of
 that factor automatically.

7. PREPARING A 1040PC FORMAT RETURN

The README.PC4 text file in your TurboTax directory
contains important information about filing a return in
1040PC format. To print this file, go to the DOS prompt
for the TurboTax directory, type COPY README.PC4 PRN,
then press the Enter key. To see the file, type
TYPE README.PC4|MORE, then press the Enter key.
