CATALOG-ON-DISK HELPFUL TIPS

Network Installation:

These instructions for network installation are for version 2.00 - 2.03
dated on or before 4/28/94. All later versions of Catalog-on-Disk with
this problem have been resolved. * Note - If you have a Virus Scan there
may be a conflict when installing Catalog-on-Disk. Turn off the
Executable scan and all will be fine. After installing you can turn the
executable scan back on. Please see your user manual for the scan software
for instructions.

1. Install CATALOG-ON-DISK on the Network

2. Copy the COD.INI file, from the PC that Catalog-on-Disk was first
installed onto, to each Users Windows directory.

3. Edit the COD.INI file to make sure the DataDir = the correct data
directory (see example below)

4. Give all users who are going to be using Catalog-on-Disk Share,
Read and Write access to the directory where Catalog-on-Disk resides.
The directories should include TD200\Data\ and all files that are under
this directory.

Printer problems:

If you have been getting the error "NOT A GRAPHICAL DEVICE" you are
probably using the HP LaserJet 4. Here are a few steps that you can take
to resolve the problem:
(1) Access Catalog-on-Disk
(2) Goto File form the file menu
(3) Goto Print Setup
(4) From Specific Printer settings, select the HP Laserjet Series II printer
(5) Highlight the printer driver and choose OK

If the driver is not listed, you then must add it through Windows (see your
Windows manual for instructions)

*** Note -- we are currently working on a solution to this problem.

ReIndexing Error:

If you have been experiencing a reindex problem with Catalog-on-Disk here
are a few items that you need to check.
(1) Make sure that Catalog-on-Disk is installed correctly onto the Network
(see above instructions)
(2) If you have Act of Windows ver. 2.0, close Act down until you are
finished using Catalog-on-Disk. You will also get an error from Act for
Windows if you have Catalog-on-Disk open and try to open Act.

*** Note -- we are currently working on a solution to the conflict between
Act for Windows and Catalog-on-Disk.

Exporting the DBF files:

Exporting the entire DBF database only takes a few steps.
(1) Access Catalog-on-Disk
(2) Goto File from the file menu
(3) Choose Export

This puts the file in an ASCII coma delimited text file format. However
you can not export just sections of this file.

Worksheet:

The worksheet can be printed but not saved as a file. *** Note -- this will
be changed in the future so that the Worksheet can be saved as a file.

Updating Catalog-on-Disk:

The pricing and product information in Catalog-on-Disk can be updated as
needed by downloading current price files from the Tech Data Bulletin
Board System (BBS). Please contact your Tech Data Canada Sales
Representative for further information about details on using the Tech
Data BBS to download current price files for use with Catalog-on-Disk.
