                              NASSCAR
(National Assoc. for Simulated Stock Car Auto Racing)
                             Rules V1.0

1.0 SERIES OVERVIEW

NASSCAR is a simulated auto racing league using Nascar Racing from Papyrus.
You must have this software, available at your local retail software outlet,
to participate in the series. You must also use the CALENDAR file included
here and the DRIVERS2.TXT file that is sent out each week with the race
settings. A complete car set is available in the simulated auto racing
library on America Online, but is not mandatory.

Simplified, here is how you participate each week:

1.1 Setup your Nascar Racing sim with the correct CALENDAR and DRIVERS2.TXT
files.

1.2 Set the race options according to the race settings mailed to you each
week (opponents strength, race distance, etc.).

1.3 Qualify and run your race in accordance with the specific rules listed
below for your division.

1.4 IMPORTANT!!! Nascar Racing, unlike Indycar Racing, does not automatically produce a results file. You MUST do this manually through the save option at the end of the race. Failure to do so will leave you with no results to email the director.

1.5 Email your results to the screen name NASSCAR for America Online drivers; NASSCAR@aol.com for internet drivers.

1.6 Your results will be compiled along with your other human competitors.
Series results will be posted to the NASSCAR folder on America Online, and
emailed to internet drivers.

This section is meant to simplify our series for new drivers. Specific rules
are listed below for your individual divisions, and must be followed closely.

A word of warning that NASSCAR races will be tough. If you've done your
homework all week in testing, you may be able to fight your way to the front. Some weeks you may not be able to keep pace with the leader. Just remember that not many drivers run up front each and every week.

NASSCAR, as in any other simulated racing series, depends on the honesty and
integrity of each of our drivers. There are always ways to cheat the
simulation and falsify your results. For the sake of all involved, please
follow all rules closely and send valid results only.

2.0 SETTING UP NASCAR RACING FOR NASSCAR

2.1 NASSCAR is run in champion season mode. You must have the correct CALENDAR file installed for our series. I would suggest that after each week's race you make a copy of your SEASON.BIN file and store it in another directory.

2.2 You must use the DRIVERS2.TXT file sent to you each week with the race
settings. A complete car set is available, but not mandatory.

2.3 NASSCAR includes 2 divisions: BGN and Winsten Cup. BGN division will require 17 opponents and shorter, easier races. WC will require 29 competitors, and run longer, harder races. You may only run in 1 division.

2.4 You may not change car make or tire manufacturer after the series starts. Hoosier tires will be allowed for NASSCAR.

2.5 You must use your real name in the sim. Be sure to edit this info before
starting your race.

3.0 RUNNING YOUR RACE

3.1 Race settings will be mailed to you each week along with a new
DRIVERS2.TXT file.

3.2 Run your qualifying session. You are not allowed to run more than 2 qualifying sessions total. Make a note of your qualifying place and speed.

3.3 Restarts are NOT allowed, with these exceptions only: A) you may restart
at anytime before completing the first lap. This will allow for any wierd
happenings by the computer cars on the first lap of the race. B) you may
restart your race if you hit a "glitch" in Nascar Racing that destroys your
race (for example, 40 laps into the race you have a yellow flag and some cars slow to 35 mph, allowing the pace car to pass you and put you a lap down. Or you may get a never-ending black flag at Talladega, which has not yet been fixed by Papyrus as of this writing.) Restarting due to damage to your car is NOT allowed.

3.4 No changes are to be made to any files in Nascar Racing, with the exception of car.dat files, which contains car designs.

3.5 Do not cause cautions for your benefit.

3.6 If you DNF for any reason you must use the accelerated time feature of Nascar Racing to complete your race (press "A" while on the track). All DNF's will be scored behind those "running" at the end of the race.

4.0 SENDING RESULTS

4.1 You MUST manually save your results at the end of the race. Nascar Racing does not automatically produce a results.txt file. To do this hit "escape" at the end of your race. If you do not see the winners screen or the screen of the crew pushing your car away your race is not yet complete. You will then see a print/save option after viewing the results.

4.2 Save your results file by using following criteria:

     B/W (BGN or WC)
      J (First initial)
BROW (First four letters of last name)
      03 (Race #)
    .txt

Jim Brown, driving in the WC division, would send this file for race #3.

    WJBROW03.TXT

4.3 At the bottom of your results add your screen name, qualifying position and speed.

    WARNING!!

DO NOT edit any of the information in your results file generated by Nascar Racing. Failure to heed this warning will results in your disqualification from the series.

4.4 Internet drivers may send results in email text form. AOL drivers attach above file to email, and send to NASSCAR, or NASSCAR@aol.com for inet drivers.

5.0 SERIES RESULTS

5.1 Race winners will be determined by

    A)finish position,
    B)laps completed,
    C)average speed of race.

5.2 You will be scored by how you run against the computer cars. EX: if you placed 3rd in your race, but came in 6th as judged against your human competitors, you still score the 165 points for 3rd place toward the Nasscar championship. All points awarded will be the same as Nascar. 175-1st, 170-2nd, etc., 5 points for leading A lap and for leading the most laps. We will also institute a 3 point bonus for being the overall polesitter amongst your human competitors.

5.3 Results will be posted in the Nasscar folder in the sim auto area. Inet drivers will have results mailed to them. Results will also be posted on the NASSCAR WWW Home Page. (URL to be announced) Most weeks results will be sent out by Monday night.

5.4 If you have problems/questions concerning the series write to PETTY43FAN (petty43fan@aol.com for inet).

5.5 Rules may and will change at any time if deemed necessary for the integrity of the series.
