I THOUGHT YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW: Prostate Cancer Education

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Prostate cancer will kill 30,000 men this year. It is the most common
cancer among American men, yet most know very little about the disease or the
importance of an annual exam to detect it. The good news is that if detected
in its early stages, prostate cancer is potentially curable. To communicate
this message to men and their families the Prostate Cancer Education Council
(PCEC) sponsored Prostate Cancer Awareness Week, and produced an informative
brochure, available free of charge, upon request. Developed by the PCEC and
the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the brochure "Prostate Cancer: Some Good
News Men Can Live With" may be obtained by calling the NCI's toll-free hotline
1-800-4-CANCER, or writing to the Prostate Cancer Education Council, JAF Box
888, New York, NY 10116. The brochure debunks many common myths about prostate
cancer and provides the facts. A section that outlines possible symptoms can
provide you with a clearer understanding of the disease, and the last page of
this valuable publication lists other resources for additional information.
