I THOUGHT YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW: Temper Tantrums

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There probably is no more frustrating situation for the parent, or a more
difficult question to answer (for a medical columnist) than the proper actions
to take when a youngster is going through a temper tantrum. Screaming and
rolling around, breath holding, even breaking objects, the youngster is doing
everything possible to take control. Parents pray for strength, and often end
up by giving in, promising anything to get past the problem. Fortunately a
brand new brochure on the subject has just been published and is available
free, one to a family, that can be of tremendous help in planning a strategy.
It is called "Temper Tantrums" and is available by sending your request, and a
stamped self-addressed business size envelope to the American Academy of
Pediatrics, Division of Publications, Dept. C-1, P.O. Box 927, Elk Grove
Village, IL 60009-0927. If there is a youngster somewhere in your family, this
one's for you!
