I THOUGHT YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW: Prostate Cancer--Some Good News

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Men and their families can now request a free brochure about prostate
cancer, the most common male tumor and second leading cause of death among
American men. The brochure was developed by the Prostate Education Council
(PCEC), a panel of physicians, health educators and patient support groups,
and the National Institute of Cancer (NCI). It is called "Prostate Cancer:
Some Good News Men Can Live With" and it dispels the myths associated with the
disease and emphasizes the important role regular exams play in its early
detection. The brochure can be obtained by calling NCI's toll-free hot line,
1-800-4-CANCER, or by writing to Prostate Cancer Education Council, JAF Box
888, New York, NY 10116. Hope lies in the fact that a regular examination can
detect the disease at an early, and potentially curable stage, and reduce the
toll, which now numbers 28,500 men who die of this disease each year.
