I THOUGHT YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW: Atopic Dermatitis

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am constantly amazed by the many wonderful and helpful organizations
that write to me after seeing an answer in this column that has included
information about the disease or disorder they are dedicated to fighting.
After an answer about atopic dermatitis, I received a communication from an
association I had not been aware of, the Eczema Association for Science and
Education (EA). The EA was formed just over a year ago as a national
nonprofit, patient oriented organization representing the estimated ten
percent of the population that have atopic dermatitis, (sometimes called
eczema) and related conditions. Up until now, there has been no other
organization in the United States representing individuals with this disease.
Their Executive Director, Ms. Cheryl M. Neufeld, submitted their publications
to me and made a generous offer that I am pleased to pass along to you. They
will provide their descriptive and educational brochure "All About Atopic
Dermatitis" in addition to two issues of their quarterly newsletter " The EA
ADvocate" free of charge to any individual who requests it. Just send your
letter or post card to Eczema Association for Science and Education,
Department AB, 1221 S.W. Yamhill, Suite 303, Portland, Oregon 97205. A
stamped envelope is NOT required as this material is too large to fit into a
standard envelope. Your efforts will be well rewarded with a wealth of
information about this common skin disease.
