Welcome to G-Netix!

The installation program INSTALL.EXE on this floppy will allow you
to install G-Netix on your hard drive and will also create a
Program Manager group for it. If you haven't done this already,
you can run it by selecting "Run..." from the "File" menu in the Program
Manager and typing "X:\INSTALL" for the command line (where "X" is the
letter of your 3 1/2 in floppy drive). By default, the installer installs
G-Netix into a directory named G-NETIX on your "C:" drive. If you
wish to install it somewhere else or on another drive, simply type in the
new path when the Readme window disappears.

The program EXTRACT.EXE on disk 1 is provided to allow you to
manually decompress the .PKD files on the floppies if one or two files on
your hard drive become damaged and you don't want to completely reinstall
G-Netix. You will probably never need to use it.

The manual which currently comes with G-Netix was written for
the Macintosh version of the program. The two programs are almost identical,
but there are some minor differences which are documented in the
G-Netix Technical Supplement which is provided with G-Netix for Windows.

  Requirements:
    * The Windows 3.1 operating system

    * A 100% PC compatible computer with at least 4Mbytes of extended
memory. (More is better; If you have memory trouble, try turning on
virtual memory using the 386 Enhanced control panel)

    * A 25Mhz 80386 is the absolute minimum required for this program. A
faster machine is required for good performace.

    * A SVGA video card is required. One which is also a Windows accelerator
      is STRONGLY recommended.

      NOTE: When you run G-Netix, you should have a 640 x 480 x 256
colors video driver for your video card installed. You can change
the video driver using the "Windows Setup" program which can usually
be found in the "Main" group in the Program Manager. Select
"Change System Settings" from the "Options" menu and then select the
appropriate video driver for your display card from "Display".

    * To play sound, you must have a Windows compatible sound
card (such as Creative Labs' Soundblaster).
