   I Manual Installation Instructions

If you are experiencing problems with the Front Page Sports:
Football Pro '95 Upgrade INSTALL program, the following instructions
will allow you to manually copy the game to your hard disk drive.

NOTE: The following instructions should be used if prior
installation attempts have not been successful. Before using these
instructions, try the following troubleshooting tips: Create a
Football Boot Disk first. Start the INSTALL utility and choose the
"Make bootable floppy disk" option. Reboot your computer with the
boot disk in the A drive and run the Football Pro '95 Upgrade
INSTALL program. If the INSTALL program continues to fail, use
these directions to manually upgrade the game to your computer's hard
disk drive.

1) Check your hard disk drive and confirm you have at least 15Mb
(15360000 bytes) of disk space available, or 25Mb (25600000 bytes) or
more if you are using a disk compression utility such as Stacker or
DoubleSpace/DriveSpace. Run the "CHKDSK" utility to verify "bytes
available on disk". Also, make sure you do not have any lost
allocation units or other errors on the hard drive. These errors
may cause the game to not install correctly. If you have errors
on the drive, CHKDSK will report them to you (they will appear as
the first line below the Serial Number if they exist).

If you have errors, you will need to correct them. To do this,
you can use the CHKDSK/F command, Scandisk, or any other hard
disk maintenance utility such as Norton Utilities or PC-Tools.
WARNING -- there is a slim chance that you may lose data off of
the hard drive when attempting to correct any errors. The chance
of data loss depends upon the severity of the errors on the drive.
Consult your MS-DOS or hard drive maintenance utility documentation
for more information. We highly recommend you make a back-up of
your hard drive and/or back-up any important information or
documents before attempting to correct hard drive errors.

2) Next, you will need to make additional subdirectories in your
FBPRO directory within the DYNAMIX directory. To do this,
type the following instructions at your hard drive prompt:

  CD DYNAMIX\FBPRO <ENTER>
  MD TAPES <ENTER>
  MD TAPES\GAME <ENTER>
  MD TAPES\USER <ENTER>

When you have created the above mentioned directories, you will
then want to remove a few remaining unneeded directories from your
hard drive. To do this, type the following commands:

  DEL BOOKS
  Y <ENTER>
  RD BOOKS <ENTER>
  DEL TTM <ENTER>
  Y <ENTER>
  RD TTM <ENTER>
  DEL XTAPES <ENTER>
  Y <ENTER>
  RD XTAPES <ENTER>
  DEL LTAPES <ENTER>
  Y <ENTER>
  RD LTAPES <ENTER>

NOTE: If you have installed the game to a location other than
\DYNAMIX\FBPRO, please substitute the proper path location in
the above steps.

3) Copy all the files from each disk into the \DYNAMIX\FBPRO
subdirectory. To do this, follow the steps below:

Insert Upgrade Disk #1 into your A drive
  Type: COPY A:*.* C:\DYNAMIX\FBPRO <ENTER>
Repeat the above steps for Game Disk #2, #3, and #4.

NOTE: The above steps assume you are installing from your A: drive
and installing to your C: drive. Please substitute the appropriate
drive letters and path if needed.

4) Now type:

  UNCHUNK RESOURCE.000 . <ENTER>

NOTE: Remember to include the space and a period between 000 and
<ENTER>.

5) Use UNCHUNK again on the remaining files by typing the following
commands:

  UNCHUNK RESOURCE.001 . <ENTER>
  UNCHUNK RESOURCE.002 . <ENTER>
  UNCHUNK RESOURCE.003 . <ENTER>

NOTE: Remember to type the space and a period between the resource
extension number and <ENTER>.

NOTE: Be sure to UNCHUNK these resource files in numerical order.
If you make a mistake, or if the UNCHUNKed files are in the wrong
order, you will need to erase all of the files from the
\DYNAMIX\FBPRO subdirectory, re-install Football Pro, and begin
this manual installation process again. Each command will take
several minutes to complete. Wait until the computer has
completed each operation before typing the next line.

When all the resource files have been uncompressed, you will now
need to upgrade you data files. To do this, type:

  PATCH PATCH.RTP <ENTER>

After the initial patch update has occurred, type:

  PATCH PATCH2.RTP STOCK <ENTER>

Once both of these upgrades take place, you may delete all patch
programs from you hard drive. To do this, type:

  DEL PATCH*.* <ENTER>

6) After updating all of you data files, you will need to run the
FBCHECK utility to verify that files uncompressed correctly. To do
this, type:

  FBCHECK <ENTER>

After running the FBCHECK program, run the SOUNDSET program from the
\DYNAMIX\FBPRO subdirectory by typing:

  SOUNDSET <ENTER>

Once within this utility, select the "Detect The Sound Card And
Settings" option. This will automatically detect your sound card and
embed the correct hardware settings so the program can play the sound
effects in the game. Soundset will then test the sound card by playing
a series of sampled sounds and/or MIDI music. After the music and
sound was successfully played, select the "Save Changes To Resource.CFG
And Exit" option.

7) Once you have saved your sound card options, we will now update your
Football Pro Leagues, Plays, Plans, and Profiles. To accomplish the
update, type the instructions outlined below:

  LGEUPDAT <ENTER>

Once the League files are updated, then type:

  PPPUPDAT <ENTER>

8) Next, try to start the game. If the game works correctly,
delete all resource files (RESOURCE.000-003). Consult your MS-DOS
manual for information on how to accomplish this step if you need
further assistance.

If you continue to experience any problems, or if you have any
questions concerning any of the above steps, our technical support
team will be more than happy to assist you. See the Troubleshooting
section of your manual for information on how to contact our
