Welcome to StarDate Calendar and Address Book 1.0
...An Expresso product based on Star Trek: The Next Generation(R)

This file contains information on last minute changes and some tips on using
StarDate that were not included in the manual.

* Current Expresso Users

StarDate is a complete product based upon the Expresso(tm) Calendar and
Address Book engine. When StarDate is installed, in addition to the new
looks (that are based upon Star Trek: The Next Generation(R)), you will get
a new application called StarDate. Both Expresso and StarDate will have
access to ALL the installed looks, so you have the option of deleting the
Expresso application.

* What is Expresso?

The Expresso(TM) Calendar and Address Book is Berkeley System's general
personal information product. StarDate uses the same engine as Expresso,
therefore, includes all of Expresso's features and benefits. The primary
difference between the programs is the looks: Expresso has 20 different look
styles that range from simple to stylish to down-right silly! StarDate, of
course, offers looks based on Star Trek: The Next Generation(R).

You can use the programs separately or purchase both and use all looks...it's
up to you to personalize your computer the way you want!
* The HowTo section of Help has two new sections: "StarDate Hints" and "What
is Expresso". Please read them!

* Importing Files from Other Programs

If you're using another calendar, address book or to-do list product, you must
first export your data from that program as a text file using the default
export settings. StarDate provides many Import templates that are based on
the default export settings of other programs. If you don't find your
template (or for any other import problems) refer to the Reference Manual
(pp. 57-62).

* FlashBack(tm)

- The placement of the FlashBack button can be changed. Simply click
on it using the right mouse button. Norton Desktop 3.0 users should
consider putting the FlashBack button on one of the screen corners.

- If FlashBack is not installed, you can still get your StarDate windows
to appear on the desktop using the "FlashBack on exit" preference, or by
clicking on the FlashBack button on the right hand side of the title bar in
the active StarDate window.

* Printing

- The "From: To:" page range option in the Windows print dialog will not
affect the number of pages printed. StarDate printing is based on your data
(e.g. days, weeks, individual names, etc.) rather than pages, so printing by
pages doesn't really apply!

- Non-PostScript Printers: If you're having problems printing to a
non-PostScript printer, try setting the DPI to 150. At higher resolutions,
the printer may run out of memory.

- Calendar Printing: When you print a StarDate calendar in month, week or day
layout, the full text of events are printed. For month and week printouts,
you may turn this feature off so that only the first line of the event is
printed. To do this, use NOTEPAD to edit the Expresso Preferences file
(EXPRESSO.INI) and include the line "Allow Wrap=0" under the [Calendar]
section.

* Synchronizing StarDate Files

The file synchronization feature in StarDate is intended for bringing a file
up to date with another "version" of ITSELF (called the sync. file). At the
end of synchronization, the file is copied back onto the sync. file, making
them exactly the same. See the StarDate Reference Manual (pp. 55-57).

* Using StarDate Files on a Macintosh

To open Windows StarDate files on a Macintosh, use the "Show All" option in
the Open dialog to see the files.

* Uninstalling StarDate

The uninstall process leaves the file "sdsetup.exe" in your Windows
directory. You may delete this file from the File Manager when uninstalling
is completed.
