This program (charedit) is intended to be used with SSI's Forgotten Realms
Unlimited Adventures (FRUA) on IBM (dos) machines. It allows editing of
characters, and is not entirely complete (I plan to add more options). It
is freeware, use it and give it to your friends.

Thanks to kaviyd and Chris Harwood-Jones for their help in decoding
the .cch files.

To use it, just type at the prompt:
       charedit path\mychar.cch

examples:
       charedit c:\games\frua\yezu.dsn\save\palamor.cch
charedit yezu.dsn\monst001.dat (Assuming charedit resides in the
					 \games\frua path.)
charedit citygold.dsn\save\* (Gives a directory listing)

This command line option, coupled with doskey, makes retyping of paths
unnecessary.
The directory listing is new with V1.1. The only wildcard
accepted is '*'. In the above example, the program would give a listing
of all .dat and .cch files found in the directory 'citygold.dsn\save'.
In this case you would be seeing the player character files (*.cch).
To view the monster listing: 'citygold\*'. This searches for all
monst*.dat files in citygold\ path.
Upon quitting charedit, it automatically gives you a listing of all
.cch or monst*.dat files in the same path as the character/monster that
you just finished editing.

ABILITY SCORES:
---------------
* Strength: Above 19 get full bonus on THAC0 and damage.
* Intelligence:No info yet.
* Wisdom: There is no cleric spell bonus for a wisdom above 18.
* Dexterity: Above 19 get full bonus on AC, but not thief abilities.
* Constitution:Above 19 get full HP bonus for fighters. I will in the future
	       include regeneration (1hp/hour) here.
* Charisma: Does it affect the game at all? Maybe.

ALIGNMENT:
----------
* You can make a Chaotic Evil Paladin. I haven't played with this to see if
   anything strange happens.

BASEAC:
-------
* Remember that this is BASE. It is normally 10 for characters. Dexterity,
armor and magical items will change the current AC. Monks are a good
example of when to change this value. Or a character with tough skin.

BASEMV:
-------
* If you make this 24 and then put plate mail on the character, your
movement will drop to 6 while wearing the armor. Other armors act in
   the same way.

CLASS:
------
* When making illegal classes by race (dwarf magic-user, halfling paladin),
the character's name will not be highlighted when they have earned enough
experience points to advance to the next level.

HITPOINTS:
----------
* I made several characters with 255 (max) hit-points. They were injured on
combat so I took them to a temple. While 'healing', one of the character's
HP 'wrapped around' from 253 to 2. I noticed that the other characters did
   not have this problem.

MAGIC RESISTANCE:
-----------------
* Opposing casters will not attempt to cast spells at someone with high magic
resistance. Be careful with editing this, some of your own party's casters
may not be able to effect you. It seems that only when in combat are spells
   effected.

SAVING THROWS:
--------------
* Thief saving throws are zero in FRUA. You can fix them now, if you want,
but every time they advance in level (to where saves increase?) the saves
will be reset to 0. Boy, MicroMagic really screwed this one up! Where
   were those playtesters?

SPELLBOOK (Magic-user):
-----------------------
* If you edit the mage's spell book to add 9th level spells, and your mage is
only 5th level, when you try to memorize spells, the 9th level spells will
not appear to be in the spellbook. They are! They will not show up until
you're of high enough level to use them (assuming your intelligence is high
   enough).

THIEF ABILITIES:
----------------
* FRUA seems to start the character with ability scores as mentioned in the
.cch hack file, but then increases some of them too quickly upon level
   advancement.

WEAPONLESS COMBAT:
------------------
* Only works while no weapon is readied.
* Number of attacks is per two rounds. So a value of 6 represents
   3 attacks/round.
* Damage bonus. This is in *addition* to strength.
