High detail UK scenery

This comprises high detail, accurate scenery covering the whole of the
UK (apart from part of east England, which is targetted for completion
in May). The area covered extends from Muckle Flugga (north tip of
Shetland) in the north to the Channel Islands in the south. The Hebrides
are included to the west, out to St. Kilda. Ireland is not available
    yet but is under preparation.

    Features include

    *  41 Mbytes in over 1,400 .SC1 files
    *  Complementary SCN file
    * Day and night scenery in different detail levels available
    * Sufficient detail to allow visual navigation anywhere with standard
       charts
    * All VORs, NDBs, ILSs and ATIS available for IFR flight
    * Mountains and buildings (where appropriate) still present but dark
at night, thus occluding lights and providing a realistic
       navigational hazard
    * Includes GEEPLAN database - see below
    * Incorporates many high detail features - cathedrals, castles, other
       heritage buildings etc.
    * Coordinate system similar to SD-EUR.SCN, so is more-or-less
compatible with much other European scenery

Because FS4 cannot cope with the large number of scenery files without
intolerable file switching delays, a front-end utility is provided. This
allows the user to choose the area or route to be flown, and renames
scenery files between .SC1 and .SCG files, thus limiting the files FS4
has to process to those actually required for the flight.

The route is built from the GEEPLAN database - a comprehensive list of
hundreds of airports (with runway and nav details), several thousand
towns, villages and other features, and a selection of viewpoints of
particular interest (many with 'tourist' information for the sightseer).
The user will select a start position (usually an airport runway or
apron) and a series of waypoints, which are displayed on a map of the UK.
A MOD file is then generated and FS4 is automatically invoked at the
    chosen start position.

This scenery is designed for use with FS4. However, it will run very
successfully on FS5, although the automatic GEEPLAN startup is not then
    available.

This scenery pushes FS4 (and FS5) to the limit of the performance
available. To get full benefit, one needs a top range 386 or a 486 or
more powerful PC with plenty of hard disk (41 Mbytes for scenery plus
about 10 Mbytes for intermediate installation files, for the high detail
options). Use of SMARTDRV is strongly recommended with FS4.

The overall result is a simulation for Britain which not only allows
serious VFR or IFR navigation practice, but provides superb
    possibilities for expoloration as well.

GEE Library

This is a kit for incorporating high detail objects into your own
    scenery. It includes

    * a library of hundreds of high detail objects

    * GEE - a utility for placing, orienting and elevating objects.
This operates from the keyboard or a simple script file to define
what to do - naming the scenery files to be created or used as a
base, and defining the objects required.

    * GSCRIPT - repetitive object script generator

This generates a GEE script file allowing objects to be placed
periodically (or randomly) between two points. This also works
       along curves.

Uses are legion, such as streets of houses, forests, parking lots,
multiple span bridges, transmission lines with pylons at regular
       intervals, etc. etc.

GLASSES - Gemini Local Area Scenery Supplements

This is a service enabling you to add local high detail scenery of your
choice to Gemini Simulation scenery. If you send us (to the at the end
    of this file) the following

    *  A disk
    * Suitable (preferably colour) photographs or diagrams
    * Accurate position (preferably in UK Ordnance Survey coordinates)
and orientation information (possibly an annotated extract of an OS
       map)

we will return your disk, containing a segment of Gemini scenery
which will be compatible with the relevant Gemini scenery area,
incorporating your chosen objects. This is subject to the demand and
effort available at the time. If we cannot respond, we will return your
    disk.

Priority will be given to objects likely to be of general interest - e.g.
near airfields, heritage sites etc.. Please no private residences unless
of heritage status or associated with airstrips!

It would be worth your while contacting us before preparing a lot of
    information.

We may incorporate any scenery generated in this way into future
    releases.
