File and Print Services for NetWare is a Windows NT Server 3.51
utility that makes Windows NT Server look like a NetWare 3.x
compatible file and print server. Without changing their NetWare
client software, customers can now use their desktop machines to
access file and print servicess as well as server applications,
on the same multi-purpose Windows NT Server-based machine.

Install Notes:
This utility is a service which requires Windows NT Server 3.51. If
Microsoft Gateway Services for NetWare(R) has not already been
installed, you will be prompted to do so. Your server should have 10
meg available for new files. If you are converting an existing
NetWare server(s), you will need sufficient storage to hold any
files you choose to migrate over.

The Setup program in the Network tool in Control Panel installs
FPNW on your computer. You must be logged on as an administrator
to install FPNW. After installation, you will need to restart
   the computer.

During installation, you are prompted to install FPNW or FPNW
Administration Tools. Choose File and Print Services for NetWare
to install all the files necessary to run FPNW. Choose File and
Print Services for NetWare Administration Tools to install only
those files needed to perform remote administration.

To installed (refer to \FPNW\DOCs directory for further details):

-- Go to the Network Settings dialog from the Control Panel

-- Select Add Software and specify <Other> when prompted
	for the component.

-- Specify your source drive, path, and operating system
	platform.

Ex: (if your CD ROM was located at D)

	     D:\FPNW\i386 for Intel x86 processors
	     D:\FPNW\ALPHA for Alpha AXP processors
	     D:\FPMW\MIPS for MIPS R4x00 processors
	     D:\FPNW\PPC for Power PC processors

If you have difficulty installing FPNW, we suggest that you
copy the contents of the platform you wish to install for
(ex: D:\FPNW\i386) to a tempoary directory on your hard drive
(ex: C:\TEMP) and then repeat the installation steps and
substitute your hard drive and temporary path inplace of the
   one used from the CD-ROM.

Once installation is complete, you will be prompted for
    some configuration information:

    1. In the Directory For SYS Volume box, type the location for the
SYSVOL directory that will be the NetWare SYS: volume.
This volume is the location for NetWare client home directories,
login scripts, mail, and system files.
Setup selects a default location for SYSVOL, which is C:\SYSVOL.
It is strongly suggested that you install this directory on an
NTFS partition; if you install the NetWare volume on a non-NTFS
partition, you will lose the security features that NTFS provides
and will not be able to set or enforce file or directory security
	settings.
    2. If you will be using a NetWare Supervisor account, in the
Supervisor Account box, type a password for the Supervisor's
account. You must type the same password in the Password and
	Confirm Password boxes.
    3. If you are installing FPNW in a domain, you are prompted to
enter a password for the FPNW Service Account. The password
for this account must be the same on all the Windows NT servers
that have FPNW installed in the domain.
    4. In the Advanced Tuning box, select one of the options described
in the following table to tune the server's performance.
You can reconfigure the server's performance after you have
	installed it.

	To:
	-- Minimize Memory Usage -
Decrease the amount of memory required to run FPNW.
this option if the Windows NT FPNW server will be used
mainly for minimal file operations, for example, if you
need more memory for application services.

-- Balance Between Memory Usage And Performance-
Balance the amount of memory the Windows NT FPNW
server uses with the speed at which it will run. Choose this
option if the server will be used for sharing applications
(for example SQL Server)and as a network file and print server.

	-- Maximize Performance-
Increase the speed at which the Windows NT FPNW server will
run. Choose this option if the server will be used mainly
for heavy network activity, such as network file sharing and
as a print server from NetWare clients.

    5. Choose the OK button to complete FPNW installation.
You are prompted to restart the computer.

Documentation Notes:
The DOCS sub-directory contains the Administrators Guide for FPNW.
This should be read prior to installation. This guide can be viewed
with Microsoft Word 6.0 or greater. Because of embedded reference
commands, we can not guarantee that the documentation can be printed
on your printer, although we are not aware of any specific problems.
There should be no problems whatsoever viewing these documents.

Please also refer to README.TXT for any last minute changes to the
   Administrators Guide.
