Thank you for testing this Beta version of Quicken 5 for Windows! Listed below are all the known problems and areas we'd like for you to avoid.

This document addresses both the regular features of Quicken, and those features accessed via modem, online services. If you won't be testing any of the online services, then you can skip the sections specifically dealing with these services. If you are testing the online services, please make sure to read this entire document.

Intuit is proud to be introducing an exciting new product in the near future called Quicken ExpensAble, which will make tracking and reporting your travel expenditures effortless! Unfortunately, due to a known incompatibility in this release of Quicken 5 for Windows, you will not be able to use ExpensAble with Quicken 5 for Windows until you have received the next release. This will affect only those who are also Beta-testing both products. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we hope it's a small price to pay for all the time you'll be saving with your expense reports in just a few months! For similar reasons, the Quicken Financial Planner should not be run concurrently with this release of Quicken 5 for Windows.

If you have ExpensAble and/or Quicken Financial Planner and you want to use them with Quicken 4 for Windows, after you install this Beta version of Quicken 5 for Windows, you must copy the file qconnect.dll from the 5th installation disk (of the Beta installation disks) to your c:\windows\system directory.

Areas of Quicken 5 for Windows you should not use (non-online features)

1. Do not use CheckFree to transmit payments. It is safe to upgrade to Pay On-Line, but CheckFree is not working in this release.
2.	Do not use any add-on applications other than Quicken Quotes. This includes QuickPay, Quicken Home Inventory, TurboTax, Tradeline Stock Guide, QuickInvoice, and Pocket Quicken Connect.
3.	Do not use the Import feature in Tax Planner.
4.	Do not use the Validate feature on the File menu.
5.	Don't use the new loan interface in Quicken 5 to make payments on a loan. Instead, make loan payments using a scheduled transaction.
6. It's imperative that you exit and restart Windows if you experience a crash.

Things you should know about Quicken 5 for Windows (non-online features)

1.	If you create an investment report and you include a bank account, you will get a General Protection Fault (GPF).
2.	In Investments, the Stock Dividend action records a one-for-one and deletes the shares in Portfolio View.
3.	After you print multiple checks, Quicken will tell you that you have another check to print.

Areas of Quicken 5 for Windows you should not use (online features)

CheckFree is NOT available in beta first release. If you have been contacted to be a part of the Pay On-Line beta test, then you can convert to Pay On-Line and pay bills electronically. If you are a Pay On-Line beta tester, and do convert from CheckFree, realize that your fixed checks will continue to be paid by Checkfree! If you do not want these payments to continue to be paid, make stop payments for these transactions in your old version of Quicken.

Things you should know about Quicken 5 for Windows (online features)

1. The Bank On-Line and Pay On-Line features are only available if you have been contacted to be a part of the Bank On-Line and Pay On-Line beta test. You must be signed up for these services before they can be turned on. You can sign up for these services when the final version of Quicken comes out this fall.
2.	If you are an Intellicharge user, download all of your IntelliCharge statements before converting from Quicken for Windows 4 to the Beta version of Quicken 5.
3.	Account numbers for online banking accounts must be unique, so don't create a checking and money market account with the same account number.
4.	If you are in an error recovery session (message = "Your last session was not completed"), be sure to complete the session. Also, if you are using Pay Online, don't add payments or delete repeating payments until recovery is complete.
5.	Bank On-Line Email messages show as unsent in the mail window. This is a screen refresh problem. The mail was actually sent.
6.	If you want to change any of your online account setup information, be sure to record any bank transactions you have downloaded before you change your setup.
7.	If you disable an on-line account may lose some setup information. If you enable the account, you will have to check your setup and enter any missing information.
8.	If you are read several bank ads in Quicken Financial Center in one session, you may run out of resources. Exit from Quicken Financial Center and then restart Quicken Financial Center to recover.
9.	The Intuit Membership\View Detail (accessed from the On-Line menu) may not show all of the services you have signed up for.
10.	Changing your PIN for your Quicken IntelliCharge account might not work correctly. Please continue to use your current PIN. If you are a new IntelliCharge user, you will be able to set up your account and get data, but continue to use the PIN you set up your account with.
11.	Before you reconcile your online banking account to your paper statement, update your register with any online transactions you have downloaded.
12. If you have a Pay On-line payment that is too late to send, the dialog that reports the error will gpf upon exiting. Please exit Quicken and Windows. Restart Quicken and edit or delete the payment before trying to resend the payment.
