Here's the drill....

First unzip this mess into your favorite subdirectory,
[allow 25 megs or so]..........

Run Ahem.exe to search for keywords, or browse with your
favorite text editor or word processor... ahem.exe is
good because it will quickly search all files in the
subdirectory [or entire hard drive, for that matter] for
ASCII strings.

run ahem.exe, select f for files, and hit enter for *.*,
and you will be prompted for a search string. type in
what you want, and it will search the entire subdirectory
for that string [not case sensitive].

once you find the volume number(s) where keywords show up,
it is sometimes easier to look at these with a text editor
to read the file description.

Once you find the filename of the series that you want,
and know how many files are in the set, text search for
the common characters of the filename. This will tell you
if the complete set is present, as the individual files
may be spread out over several volumes.

note the volume numbers and the filenames, as you will need
them to get the files......

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IMPORTANT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

when you request something, request it BY FILENAME!!!!!
                                       ^^ ^^^^^^^^
for example, mk100rz*.zip, cause that is how i am gonna flag it
             ^^^^^^^^^^^^
to get it off of tape.

example:

vol-0368 dimccp*.*
vol-0053 lcy-is*.*
vol-0157 ven-cry*.*

if you request something, and put a request up on the board asking for
something like "the 15 disk autocad 13 release for dos that was here
a couple months ago", i won't even bother to look it up.. sorry,
but i just don't have the time.
use the above format if you want it off of my tapes.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

in compiling this pile, i tried to keep sets together
whenever possible, but i did not delete incomplete sets,
on the theory that the missing files would turn up sooner
or later.... usually later..... :}

if by now you are saying to yourself,
GOD, WHAT A PILE OF SHIT, HOW WILL I EVER FIND ANYTHING IN HERE?
relax, it is not as bad as it seems.....

HOWEVER, and this offer go out to anyone reading this, if you
would be interested in building a nice database for this in say,
access 2.0, you will recieve a copy of the data... :* ))
mail me on God's Realm, H.M.S. Bounty, Dead Zone, or Snakes Place
and we can discuss it.....

If you notice that many of the files in the vol-0150 to
vol-0175 range do not have descriptions, there is a very
good reason for that. There aren't any!

...........................................................
...............begin rather lame explanation...............
...........................................................
You see, there was this HUGE pile of qic-80's left over from
when Tensor converted Random Node to 8MM, and they were just
SITTING there........ :*P
There is a database for finding stuff that came from
Random Node, and it is in a file called CAT.ZIP..... I could
have gone to the trouble to paste in the descriptions for all
of this stuff, but it was enough of a pain in the ass to
pump 65 qic-80's through a colorado 250 that made a sound
like a fork caught in a garbage disposal....... that i did
not want to bother with the tedium of cross-referencing the
whole thing. That, plus the fact that the qic-80's had some
read errors, caused the whole project to lose it's charm
rather quickly. Hey, what do you want for free?
...........................................................
................end rather lame explanation................
...........................................................

in any event, as of this point i have cleaned up the listings
to vol-0062, and after that they are just raw output from
lister, without editing, so they may be a little bit messy.

this is caused by those truly El33te d00dze who insist on
chewing up the file_id.diz with strings pasted in containing:
a] their handle
b] their group
c] their favorite board
d] a message about someone in the scene that they don't like
e] their mother's maiden name
f] their father' maiden name
g] their area code
h] obscure ascii strings and piping that when viewed with "type"
will cause the hard drive to be repartitioned.
i] 379 carriage returns.
j] 183 blank spaces.
k] all of the above.

at this point, we are up to vol-0371, and the total amount
of files is 38.01 gigs, give or take a couple of megs.

jeez, how did i get started on this madness? all i was doing
was looking for a copy of some fun stuff, and it turned into
a copy of *.zip.....the whole thing has turned into something
resembling a failed zoological experiment involving cheap
bourbon and drunken gorillas....

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!CREDITS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

with the help of people even more whacked than i am, this madness
is possible. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
would like to list all of you, but with the scene as pfukked as
it currently is, anything beyond anonymity is a good way to get
your handle changed to defendant.....
besides, you guys know who you are, and that is really all that
counts....

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
