Running SETUP.EXE from these disks will install the latest version of
AddDepth, a reduced set of AddDepth Wizard Templates, plus sample files
and clip art files required for the tutorial.

The Ultimate Symbol clip art, FontBank typefaces and remaining Template

should install from the AddDepth CD-ROM that came with your package.

If you do not have access to a CD-ROM drive you can order a complete
floppy-disk installation set from Ray Dream by sending in the AddDepth
Floppy Disk Order Form card included in your AddDepth package. A shipping
and handling fee of $9.50 will be charged.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENT NOTES

The calculations required to manipulate graphic images in 3D are
significant. AddDepth will run on a minimally configured 386 PC with 4
MB of RAM, but performance will be sluggish and AddDepth may be
unable to handle complex files under a minimal configuration. Faster
processor speeds and increased amounts of RAM in your PC will
significantly increase AddDepth's performance.

DOCUMENTATION OMISSIONS AND ERRATA

1) Toolbars: By default, the toolbar is docked along the top edge of the
screen, below the menu bar. You can "undock" the toolbar if you prefer to
access the tools from floating palettes instead--just drag a toolbar away
from the edge of the screen, and it becomes a floating palette. You can
change the palette's shape by dragging its lower right corner; tools can be
arranged in a single horizontal row, a single vertical column, or any of
several intermediate configurations.

To "re-dock" the palette, drag it back to the edge of the screen or
double-click on the palette.

COMPATIBILITY NOTES

1) The Windows version of AddDepth has been tested with the most
popular video adapter cards currently on the market. The proliferation of
video adapter cards with proprietary video drivers has made it difficult to
test all the video cards currently in use today. If you are experiencing
some video problems, please make sure that you are using the most
current video driver provided by the video adapter manufacturer. Most
video adapter card manufacturers have a BBS where you can download
the latest video driver or the manufacturer will send you the updated
driver software upon request.

2) COMPATIBILITY WITH CorelDRAW!.

EPS files and CorelDRAW! 3.0 or CorelDRAW! 4.0 - An .EPS file contains a
thumbnail preview. This thumbnail preview can be in .WMF or .TIF format.
CorelDRAW! expects to see a .TIF thumbnail and will error out when attempting
to open an EPS file generated from AddDepth because AddDepth uses
.WMF as its thumbnail preview format. See section 3 below.

Importing Adobe Illustrator files in CorelDRAW! - When importing Adobe
Illustrator files CorelDRAW! does not support clipping paths. If you
have gradients or decals on an object front face they will not be clipped.

You cannot open CorelDRAW! 5.0 files in this version of AddDepth.
An easy work-around is to save your CorelDraw! 5.0 files in CorelDraw!
4.0 format.

3) CHOOSING YOUR INTERCHANGE FILE FORMATS

To Import from: use:
CorelDRAW! CorelDRAW! 3.0 or 4.0 format
Adobe Illustrator	Adobe Illustrator 3.0 format
Aldus FreeHand Aldus FreeHand 3.1 format
Other software Adobe Illustrator format. WMF and CGM as a second choice.

To Export to: use:
CorelDRAW! Adobe Illustrator 3.0 format or WMF if you have gradients and decals.
Adobe Illustrator Adobe Illustrator 3.0 format
Aldus FreeHand Aldus FreeHand 3.1 format
Pagemaker EPS
Quark EPS
Word EPS
Micrografx Designer	WMF
Adobe Photoshop AI

TIPS & TROUBLESHOOTING

1) AddDepth 's Style Palettes are stored in memory. If you build a large
Style Palette by adding many styles, it will consume larger amounts of
RAM. To reduce this memory consumption, we recommend building
several smaller Style Palettes rather than one large one. See Pages 5-19
through 5-24 of the AddDepth User Guide to learn more about managing
your Style Palettes.

2) .WMF, Clipboard export and Printing to non Postscript printers. When exporting object with gradients or
decals on the front face or back face AddDepth needs to clip them.
This is a time and memory consuming process. The number
of steps in a gradient fill when exporting to WMF is limited at 20.
This limit can be changed in the ADDDEPTH.INI file by changing
the MaxNbrGradationBandsInExportWMFandCGM=20 to a higher value. Please note that
the higher the limit is set the longer it will take to copy
to the clipboard, to export as .WMF or to print.

3) There is no direct way to change or modify the name of a style once it
has been created in the Style Library, but there is an easy work-around.
Select "Edit Styles Palette" from the Effects menu, select the style you
want to rename, and click on the "Duplicate" button. Enter the new name
for the style, and then delete the style with the old name.

4) There is an additional keyboard command for selecting objects in 3
dimensions: Alt-click to select an object hidden behind another object. You
can select an object which is behind another object by holding down the
Alt key while clicking on the first object with the mouse. If you have more
than one "layer" of objects, continue to click with the option key held
down to select objects that are hidden behind objects that are closer to
you.

5) If you have minimized multiple document windows, occasionally the
icons will not be visible. If you click on the document name the invisible
icon will reappear.

6) You cannot access Help by pressing F1 in either the Open or Save
dialog. You can access the context-sensitive help for these dialogs by
pressing on the Help button.

7) No progress dialog is displayed when opening a FreeHand file. The
hourglass cursor is displayed in its place.

8) To Tile your document windows horizontally, press the Ctrl key while
selecting the Tile menu item in the View menu.

9) The Ctrl+Q key combination will exit AddDepth.

10) The Backspace key will clear an object or multiple objects.

11) A style can not be applied directly to a 3D box because it is a
special object. It should first be ungrouped before a style can be
applied to it (Don't forget to regroup it before moving or rotating).

12) Press the Ctrl+R key combination to toggle between wireframe mode
and preview mode. The wireframe mode is good for object placement
relative to other objects or to the page. Once the desired layout
has been reached, toggle from wireframe mode back to preview mode
to see how the final artwork looks.

13) When using template wizards, the position of the artwork relative to the page when
viewed on screen may change when the image is printed. This may vary, depending on the type
of printer that is used. In most cases, even though the wizard artwork is not centered on screen,
it will be centered when printed. In order to get an accurate preview of the position of the object
relative to the page, before printing select the Print Setup command which is located under the
File menu. After clicking on the OK button, the artwork on screen will be positioned relative to
the page as it would be when printed.
