********************** INSTALLING ON AST WORKS **************************

The installation program does not correctly install Stationery Store
under AST Works. To run Stationery Store from AST Works, you must perform
the following steps from the AST Desktop interface to edit Stationery
Store's working directory:

1) Select the Design Mode icon from the AST Works Toolbar.
2) Highlight the Stationery Store icon.
3) From the Edit menu, select the Properties option.
4) In the Working Directory field, delete the -1 value and type in its
    place:
"C:\STORE" (or the directory name that Stationery Store is in).

Alternatively, you can install and run Stationery Store from Windows'
Program Manager, as described in the User Guide's Installation section.

*********** PRINTING WITH THE CANON BUBBLE JET COLOR PRINTERS ***********

There is a known printing problem using the default Print Color mode
(Color), which uses Microsoft's UNIDRV.DLL driver. Specifically, when
printing in Color mode (set up in the File-Print Setup-Options menu), the
following occurs:

1. White letters are not clearly displayed on dark backgrounds, and
2. Small segments of the printed artwork are not visible.

Microsoft has been made aware of the issue, and Canon has come up with two
easy solutions to handle the immediate situation.

Solution One:
                1. Select Print Setup from the File menu.
                2. With the Canon Bubble Jet Color Printer as the default
                    printer, press the Options button.
                3. From the Print Color drop down menu, select Screen-
                    Matched Color.
                4. Press OK.

Solution Two:
(Uses Color as Print Color mode)
                1. Select Print Setup from the File menu.
                2. With the Canon Bubble Jet Color Printer as the default
                    printer, press the Options button.
                3. From the Canon Bubble Jet Color Printer Setup dialog
                    window, press the Options button.
                4. From the Halftone drop down menu, select Diffusion.
                5. Press OK.

Note: Canon recommends the use of Solution One. Because Solution Two
prints in Diffusion mode, the amount of time necessary to print
       will increase.

************************* PRINT ADJUST DIALOG ***************************

(This section does not apply to users printing with a Canon Bubble Jet
Color printer.)

A Print Adjust option has been added to the File menu to accommodate
certain printers that have large margins (i.e., smaller printable areas).

The Print Adjust option provides you with the ability to do the following:

1. Move the artwork horizontally or vertically on the page.
2. Center the artwork on the physical page or on the printable area.
3. Scale the artwork by clipping the images or by squashing (compressing)
the images to fit on the page.

Note: In most cases, the defaults are set up to make all the print
adjustments automatically and produce fine quality output.

************************ BORDERS, BLANKS, BLOBS *************************

The manual states that rectangles are available in the stamp bar along with
circles, squares, and triangles. There are no rectangles in the stamp bar,
however, a rectangle can be made by re-sizing a square to the desired
shape.

********************** CARD AND LETTER ENVELOPES ************************

Stationery Store uses shaded gray areas on card and letter envelopes to
indicate cut-out areas. Because of border limitations, the shaded gray
areas do not fully extend to the edge of a page. To obtain the correct
cut-out dimensions of an envelope, make sure that you begin to cut out
the shaded gray areas from the edge of the page.

A thin line of dots is also printed as a guide for folding. Depending on
the type of printer and the print options chosen, these guides can become
very light or disappear entirely. Refer to the manual for instructions on
cutting and folding envelopes.

Once the envelope is made, the flap will overlap the back so that the
envelope can be glued shut. The flap may cover stamps or text placed at
the top of the envelope back (The top of the envelope back is immediately
below the blue dashed line drawn across the back of the envelope as seen
on the screen).

*************************** STAMP NAVIGATOR *****************************

Alphabetic buttons below the stamp bar allow quick movement to a desired
stamp category. If a button is pressed for which there is no stamp
category, the stamp category immediately preceding the selected letter is
shown. For example, pressing the "O" button displays the "New Year's
Party" stamps since there is no stamp category beginning with "O".

*************************** ADDRESS BOOK ********************************

To view and edit records which only specify a company name, without a
person's name also being entered, perform the following steps:

1. Select the ABC button.
2. Use the big left arrow key to scroll to these records.

Note that both the ABC style buttons and the Find command work only
with a person's name, not with a company name as explained in the
manual.

*************************** RE-SIZING HANDLES ***************************

Re-sizing handles for both stamps and text boxes are black. When an object
is a very dark color, the handles can disappear against the dark
background. These objects can be re-sized by slowly moving the cursor and
watching for it to change from an arrow to a re-size indicator, then click
and drag to re-size the object.

Similarly, the blue dashed line borders can disappear against blue
background art. Its location can be estimated from the left edge of the
text.

******************************* ARTWORK *********************************

All of the Stationery Store artwork is designed to give the highest
possible quality when printed. In the small preview screens of the
"Select a Stationery Store Template" dialog and the stamp bar, some
details may be lost because of the small size. This situation can be
further aggravated by low resolution monitors. However, your cards,
letters, and envelopes will look great when printed.

************ INSTALLING STATIONERY STORE WITH MICROSOFT BOB *************

There is a known problem installing Stationery Store with a pre-release
version of Microsoft BOB. Microsoft is aware of the problem. While
installing, you may receive a message that "Home" has caused a General
Protection Fault. If so, you will need to re-boot your computer after setup
completes, then add Stationery Store to BOB after re-booting.
