(but not modify) any file created with Virtus software on Windows
and Macintosh/Power Macintosh platforms.

USING VIRTUS PLAYER

To use Virtus Player, you need a 386-based or later PC running
Windows 3.1 (or a color Macintosh running System 6.0.4 or later).
This freeware utility allows others to view (but not to edit)
Virtus WalkThrough, Virtus WalkThrough Pro or Virtus VR files
created on Windows and Macintosh/Power Macintosh platforms--even
if they don't have the Virtus software with which the files were
created.

With Virtus Player, you can easily distribute Virtus models
(including those with embedded textures) to family, friends,
colleagues and clients without fear that your original files
will be modified.

Virtus Player is available in Windows 3.1 and Macintosh/Power
Macintosh versions. Any version of Virtus Player may be distributed
without charge (please follow the license agreement below), so feel
free to share it with others.

SHARING VIRTUS FILES ACROSS PLATFORMS

Here are a few questions that we thought might come up about
working with Virtus Player:

QUESTION: It's easy to view a Virtus Player for Windows
file with Virtus Player for Windows. But what if I have a
friend who has a Virtus file that was created on a Macintosh
and I want to view it?
ANSWER: Most Macintosh users can format, read and write
high-density, DOS-formatted disks with utility programs such
as PC Exchange and Apple File Exchange from Apple Computer,
Inc. Ask your friend to send the Virtus Player file on a
DOS-formatted disk, then view the file with Virtus Player
for Windows.

QUESTION: What if I want to send a Virtus Player for Windows
files to a Macintosh user?
ANSWER: Send your Virtus Player files on a DOS-formatted disk
to the Macintosh user, who can use utility software such as PC
Exchange or Apple File Exchange to convert your files to Macintosh
format. If necessary, send a copy of the Virtus Player for
Macintosh or Power Macintosh so the Macintosh user can view your
files.

QUESTION: How do I make a copy of the Virtus Player for
Macintosh disk?
ANSWER: If you need to copy the Virtus Player for Macintosh
disk so that you can distribute it, the easiest way is to use a
Macintosh.
You can also copy the Virtus Player for Macintosh program disk
using a PC. With utility software such as MacSEE (shareware from
REEVEsoft), you can can copy the files from the Virtus Player for
Macintosh disk to a DOS-formatted floppy. For a more reliable copy
of the entire disk image (since files copied individually are more
likely to become corrupted) you can use a disk-duplication program
such as DiskDupe from Micro Systems Design, Inc.

QUESTION: How can I move larger files (more than 1.4 MB each)
between Windows and Macintosh computers?
ANSWER: To do this, you need 1) utility software that will
compress and copy chunks of a file to multiple disks, or 2) you
must use a direct connection. For example, if Windows and Macintosh
computers share the same network, large files can be transferred
over that network. Also, you can use a modem and telecommunications
software to move large files.

QUESTION: What if I want others to be able to modify my
WalkThrough Pro 2.0 files?
ANSWER: There are two options to choose from when you send
WalkThrough Pro files to others, depending on whether you want
them to have the ability to alter your files:
   1) To send models that can be viewed only (the models cannot
be edited with any Virtus software), use the File/Export/Virtus
Player command in Virtus WalkThrough Pro 2.0. Anyone with Virtus
Player will be able to view these files.
   2) To send models to others to be viewed and modified, save the
models as WalkThrough Pro files. Other WalkThrough Pro users will be
able to open and edit these files.

Note: For more details about working with the software listed above,
please consult the software's documentation.

BUILDING YOUR OWN 3-D WORLDS

Virtus Player demonstrates the 3-D modeling and rendering power of
our award-winning family of virtual reality products, which
includes Virtus WalkThrough Pro and Virtus VR. With these programs,
available for Windows and Macintosh/Power Macintosh platforms, you
can build your own 3-D worlds.

Virtus WalkThrough Pro is a powerful and intuitive 3-D
visualization program that features robust drawing tools,
perspective-correct texture mapping, and the most effective
and affordable combination of real-time 3-D rendering and
"walk through" navigation in the industry. Draw in our 2-D Design
window and see your creation instantly rendered in 3-D in a
companion Walk window. Also in the Walk window, use your mouse
to quickly and fluidly explore in and around your model.

Virtus VR differs from WalkThrough Pro in that it features a
"drag-and-drop" approach to world creation. Instead of drawing
objects from scratch, you'll choose basic 3-D shapes from
galleries supplied with the program and combine these to build
more complex objects and structures.

Both programs feature one cubic mile of cyberspace, construction
and navigation tools, 3-D galleries of objects and 2-D galleries
of surface features (windows, doors, etc.), texture files and
pre-built scenes that illustrate the programs' modeling,
texture-mapping and real-time "walk through" capabilities.

Plus, these programs are supplemented by an ongoing series of
add-on galleries featuring commonly used, preconstructed 3-D
objects; using these can greatly reduce your modeling time. For
more information about these products, or to order, call
Virtus Customer Service at 1-800-847-8871.
