Lotus Imaging Tools Release Notes
--------------------------------------------

This document contains release information for the Lotus Imaging Tools
Release 1. The Lotus Imaging Tools are free to any Lotus Notes or cc:Mail
user and may be freely distributed. Updates to the tools will be available
through the standard Lotus distribution mechanisms (technical support
databases, development partner CD's, etc.). Updates are also available on
the Lotus World Wide Web site (WWW.lotus.com).

After installing the Lotus Imaging Tools you must modify your Autoexec.bat
file. If you are running in a Lotus Notes environment, the Notes program
directory must be in your path statement. If you are running in a cc:Mail
environment the cc:Mail program directory must be in your path statement.

If you have both the Lotus Notes and cc:Mail program directories in your
path statement, the Lotus Image Viewer and Lotus Print-to-Fax Driver will
use the mail system which is listed first in your path statement.

The Lotus Image Viewer and Lotus Print-to-Fax Driver will not work with the
Lotus Notes mail transport when the Notes user ID has a domain certificate
about to expire. This problem will be resolved in a later release of Lotus
Notes.

Lotus Image Viewer
------------------------

Users of Compaq Pentium systems with a QVision video controller card must
add the following in their SYSTEM.INI file in order for the Lotus Image
Viewer to function properly. Locate the following line in the SYSTEM.INI file,
[mga.drv], and under it place the line devbits=off. You will need to
restart your system for these changes to take effect.

After installation of the Lotus Image Viewer you must select File-Printer
Setup and select a printer prior to printing a document.

Lotus Print-to-Fax Driver
-------------------------------

The Lotus Print-to-Fax Driver is implemented as a Windows print driver on
top of your Lotus Mail Transport (Notes or cc:Mail). Since almost all
Windows applications print differently, the exact behavior of
the PTF driver will vary from application to application. For example,
Lotus AMI Pro launches a separate Print executable that is not application
modal (doesn't make you wait until it completes). MS-Word puts up a modal
dialog box when printing. The end result in both applications is identical
(the pages are rendered and faxed), but the user experience is different.

Although the intent of the driver is to give you output that is identical
to printing the page and carrying it to a fax machine, the driver does not
impose the border restrictions that are common with many laser printers.
That is, when you choose to print an 8.5" X 11" page, we do not reserve
any portion of the page as unprintable. Many laser printers limit the
"printable" area to compensate for the paper transport process
(i.e. 1/8" border is unprintable). The result is a potential change in
the soft page breaks (more area / information on a page) when you select the
Lotus PTF driver.

When using the Lotus Print-to-Fax Driver in conjunction with the Lotus Image
Viewer, choosing cancel in the Lotus Print-to-Fax dialog box will cause the
following error dialog :

Internal Error: Error Code=6105-Solution: Contact Technical Support

This problem will be resolved in a subsequent release.

This release of the Lotus Print-to-Fax Driver does not support full tabbing
within the Lotus Print-to-Fax Dialog boxes. This will be fixed in a later
release.

When using the Lotus Print-to-Fax Driver in landscape mode with Lotus
Freelance and Lotus Organizer, extraneous characters may be rendered in the
lower right and bottom quadrants.
