cc:Mail Mobile for Windows Release 2.2 Changes

Installing Lotus cc:Mail Mobile
-------------------------------
Access rights:
Before installing Lotus cc:Mail Mobile to a hard drive, ensure
that you have the proper access rights on that drive. Lotus
cc:Mail Mobile Setup requires full rights to a drive or volume
to install successfully.

Incomplete installation and VIM files:
If installation is unsuccessfull, the existing VIM.DLL file might
be renamed VIM.OLD. If this is the case, rename VIM.OLD to
VIM.DLL.

Upgrading to Release 2.1:
cc:Mail Mobile for Windows Release 2.1 includes updated modem
files. See the Release 2.1 section at the end of this file
for information on upgrading to the new modem files.

VIM Compatibility
-----------------
Lotus cc:Mail Mobile for Windows includes an updated version of
VIM. You must use the VIM DLLs included with cc:Mail Mobile for
Windows for all of your VIM-enabled applications (such as Lotus
Organizer). In most instances, the installation
program copies the latest VIM files and adds the cc:Mail Mobile
program directory to your PATH statement.

However, if you receive VIM or mail engine errors, verify that the
latest VIM DLLs are loaded. To avoid problems, make the
cc:Mail Mobile program directory the first entry in your PATH
statement. This ensures that the its VIM DLLs are always loaded.
(Setup will do this for you during installation if you let it
update your AUTOEXEC.BAT file.) If you later receive a newer
version of the VIM DLLs, add the directory where they're stored
as the first entry in your PATH statement.

For more information on VIM files, see the "Installing Lotus
cc:Mail Mobile" section in this README file.

Novell NetWare Lite Version 1.1 and Novell Personal NetWare:
You must manually edit your network batch file or login script
to add the cc:Mail Mobile program directory as the first entry
in your PATH statement, because the path in your login script
will override the path in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file.

Using Public Mailing Lists
--------------------------
If you add members to a public mailing list using cc:Mail Mobile,
the new members are ignored. Ask your administrator to add the
new members to the mailing list on the home post office.

Configuring cc:Mail Mobile Under OS/2
-------------------------------------
If you are running cc:Mail Mobile under IBM OS/2 Version 2.0
or 2.1, run cc:Mail Mobile in a Win-OS/2 Window as a separate
session. To configure cc:Mail Mobile to use these settings

- Create a program object for cc:Mail Mobile for Windows on
your OS/2 desktop. See your OS/2 documentation if you need
further instructions on creating program objects.

- Open the Settings Notebook for this program object by
selecting Open, Settings from the pop-up context menu for
  the cc:Mail Mobile program object.

- Select "Win-OS/2 Window" and "Separate session" on the
Sessions page of the Settings Notebook, then close the
Settings Notebook to save these changes.

OS/2 NetWare Driver Compatibility
---------------------------------
The following Novell NetWare for OS/2 drivers are compatible with
cc:Mail Mobile for Windows.

Novell NetWare for OS/2 Client Version 2.01 drivers with the
R201FX and OS2V2A patches applied:

VIPX.SYS 53248 04-16-93 4:23p
VSHELL.SYS 81920 09-08-93 4:23p
NWIPXSPX.DLL 37968 05-18-93 1:00p
NWNETAPI.DLL 106047 01-23-92 4:36p
NETBIOS.SYS 19252 05-12-93 8:20p
TBMI2.COM 25018 01-28-93 1:31p

Add TBMI2.COM to the OS/2 AUTOEXEC.BAT file. Configure Win-OS/2
to run in Standard Mode when using these NetWare drivers.
Refer to your NetWare documentation (or your vendor) if you need
further information regarding NetWare for OS/2 Client driver
configuration.

DOS NetWare Driver Compatibility
--------------------------------
The following Novell NetWare drivers are compatible with cc:Mail
Mobile for Windows running under DOS:

IPX.COM Version 3.10 or later
NETX.COM Version 3.26 or later

Long User and Post Office Names
-------------------------------
The DOS-based utilities used by cc:Mail Mobile for Windows require
that you adhere to the 127-character command-line limit.

Undeliverable Messages
----------------------
When cc:Mail Mobile detects a non-existent user in a message
address, it forwards the message to your Inbox (from the
administrator) with the subject "Message cannot be
delivered" instead of the original subject. The original subject
of the message and recipient list is included in the forwarding
information.

Calling Other cc:Mail Mobile Users Directly
-------------------------------------------
You cannot call another cc:Mail Mobile user directly to receive
mail only. You must have outgoing mail addressed to the other
Mobile user before you initiate a call.

Printing
--------
You cannot print the header information (addressees, subject, and
so on) for messages that don't contain at least one text item.

Working with Low Disk Space
---------------------------
cc:Mail Mobile tries to warn you of low disk space. However, you
may see error messages that don't make sense in the context
within which you're working when you're running out of disk
space. If this happens, exit from Lotus cc:Mail Mobile,
create more disk space, then restart Lotus cc:Mail Mobile.

See also the note on low disk space in the "WMREORG" section
of this README file.

WMREORG
-------
You should back up your post office database before running the
WMCHECK and WMREORG utilities.

If you run WMREORG from the command line, run WMCHECK first.

WMREORG requires enough available disk space to make a
full copy of your Mobile post office. Be sure you have
enough free space before reorganizing your post office
database. NOTE: If your Mobile post office is stored
on a compressed drive (using a utility such as Stacker
or DoubleSpace), keep in mind that cc:Mail database files
do not compress. To find out if you have enough disk
space to run WMREORG, look at the reported available
disk space and divide by the compression rate assumed by
your disk compression software. For example, Stacker 4.0
assumes a 2.5 to 1 compression ratio by default. So, if
DOS or Windows report 2.5 MB of free disk space, you
really only have 1 MB of actual uncompressed space for use
by cc:Mail.

You should never run WMREORG while the cc:Mail Background
program or any other VIM application is running. Make sure
that the cc:Mail Background program is not active before
starting WMREORG.

You should never run WMREORG while you're running on
battery power.

Do not interrupt WMREORG while it is running.

When you have low disk space, you may want to first free up
enough disk space to make a copy of your post office, back
up your database, and then run the WMREORG utility on your
post office. This optimizes your database and often makes
more disk space available.

Lotus cc:Mail Mobile for Windows uses a variety of data to
determine when you should optimize your database. The more
active your post office, the more often you'll be asked to
optimize it. If you feel you're being asked to reorganize
your post office database too frequently, choose Cancel
when asked to run the WMREORG utility. cc:Mail Mobile continues
to ask you to reorganize your database each time you exit.
Choose OK when it is convenient to optimize your database.

If you send mail from a VIM application (other than cc:Mail
Mobile), you must close that application before running WMREORG.

DBXLATE
-------
If you use DBXLATE to convert your cc:Mail for MS-DOS Remote
database for use with cc:Mail Mobile for Windows, you need
to create the Home, Office, and Hotel location profiles (they
are not created automatically). Additionally, if you
want to use predefined dialing rules, use the Location Setup
dialog box (choose Edit Dialing Rules in the Telephone component)
to add new dialing rules or import existing ones.

If you have existing messages in your MS-DOS Remote Outbox, send
them before you use DBXLATE. DBXLATE does not convert messages
in the Outbox.

If you have more than 194 folders in MS-DOS Remote, delete the
excess folders before running DBXLATE.

See the "DBXLATE Version 1.1 Changes" section later in
this README file for additional information.

Passwords
---------
You cannot change your password more than two times without
calling your home post office to synchronize passwords.

If you change your password more than two times and cannot
access your home post office, change your password to the
original password, then change the password to a new password
again.

To use cc:Mail Mobile with no post office password, create
the Mobile post office with no password. You cannot change
it to a zero-length password later.

International Issues
--------------------
Use the DOS-only filter to read the session log.

Return-Receipt Handling
-----------------------
Return receipts are stored in your Outbox for delivery the
next time you connect to your home post office. Return
receipt messages in your Outbox are not visible when you
open the Outbox. If you see the "Messages remain in Outbox"
message upon exit from cc:Mail Mobile but do not see any
messages in your Outbox, cc:Mail Mobile is probably
detecting return-receipt messages.

Sample X.25 Script Files
------------------------
Refer to SCRIPTS.TXT (located in your CCMOBILE directory)
for sample X.25 script files.

Directory Updates
-----------------
If you receive an ADE update containing the entire home post
office Directory, you should process this update when you don't
need to use cc:Mail Mobile for other tasks (such as creating
messages or running cc:Mail Background). If you perform other
tasks during large ADE updates, you slow down processing of the
ADE update.

Remember to run the WMREORG utility with the DIRECTORY/n
parameter to properly size your Directory before importing a
Directory for the first time. Refer to the Lotus cc:Mail
Mobile for Windows Getting Started Guide, Appendix C, for
details.

Messages you send to other Mobile users that include an ADE
update attachment but cannot be delivered are returned to
the ##Directory Updates Bulletin Boards folder. If you see
a message with the subject "Message cannot be delivered" in the
##Directory Updates Bulletin Boards folder, you should correct
the address and resend it.

If you create a CCMUPDAT file manually, you must enter the field
names (such as Name: and Locn:) with an initial capital letter.
If you enter a field name with a lower case initial letter, or
with all capital letters, the update will be processed but the
incorrect entries will be skipped.

Using cc:Mail Mobile with Lotus Organizer
-----------------------------------------
The current version of the Organizer's DIRADMIN.EXE is not
compatible with this version of cc:Mail Mobile. To enable a
Mobile user to properly interact with Organizer, perform the
following steps:

1. Enter the Organizer scheduling information for the 'L' user
in the Comments field of your cc:Mail Mobile Directory
   (refer to your Organizer manual).

2. Use ADE to download other users in your home post office.

3. Modify the Comments field for the downloaded users to match
the Organizer scheduling information you entered for the 'L'
   user.

If the cc:Mail Mobile directory is the first entry in your PATH
statement (as it should be if you're using other VIM
applications), use LAN Mode in cc:Mail Mobile instead of the LAN
version of cc:Mail to process your Organizer attachments.

Using Docking Mode Rules
------------------------
If you use a rule that runs On Leaving Docking mode, and you're
searching all containers, you must have at least one archive.

ANALYZE
-------
ANALYZE is a diagnostics tool used by cc:Mail Technical Support
to obtain additional database information. If Technical Support
asks you to run this utility, it is located in the cc:Mail Mobile
program directory.

Adding the cc:Mail Mobile Program Icon Manually
-----------------------------------------------
If you need to add the cc:Mail Mobile icon to the Program Manager
manually, enter the command-line parameters in the following
sequence:

drive:\directory\WMAIL.EXE po_path "user name" password mode

where mode can be either LAN or MOBILE.

If these parameters are entered in the incorrect order, you will
be prompted to log in correctly, but Mobile Setup may be disabled
in Mobile mode.

User License
------------
If you're the cc:Mail administrator and you need an additional
user license to use cc:Mail Mobile on your LAN, call cc:Mail
Technical Support to upgrade to Release 5.1 of the cc:Mail
Administrative Utilities. These utilities let you add new
users to your cc:Mail post office.

You can also download Release 5.1 of the cc:Mail Administrative
Utilities from the Lotus cc:Mail Bulletin Board (415-691-0401).

"Store to" Rule Option
----------------------
Page 175 of the cc:Mail for Windows User's Guide states that you
can store messages "on sending" in a folder or archive. However,
you can store these messages in folders only.

cc:Mail Mobile for Windows Release 2.03 Changes
-----------------------------------------------
Release 2.03 includes internal maintenance changes, as well as
changes to DBXLATE, cc:Mail Background, and the VIM Runtime Set.

modified .MDM (modem) files. At the Existing Modem Files
dialog box, follow these instructions:

- Choose Save to rename your existing modem files with a .OLD
extension. Use this option if you've modified any modem
files and you want to keep your changes. When installation
is complete, rename the appropriate modem.OLD file(s) to
modem.MDM to keep your file modifications.
- Choose Update to overwrite your existing modem files with
upgraded modem files. Use this option if you haven't
modified any modem.MDM files or don't care about losing
  your modifications.
- Choose Skip to keep your existing modem files and not install
the new ones. Use this option if you do not want to install
  upgraded or new modem files.

cc:Mail Background:
Do not use a previous release of cc:Mail Background with
cc:Mail Mobile for Windows Release 2.1. Also, do not
use cc:Mail Background Release 2.1 with a previous
release of cc:Mail Mobile for Windows (Release 2.03 or
earlier).

Echo Password Change:
You do not see your password on the screen as you type it. The
characters you type are replaced with asterisks (*) for display
purposes only.

Note: In LAN mode, the echo password setting set by the
administrator for the post office still applies.

The following partial print header options are now available
from the Print dialog box. Choose File - Print and then click
Header to specify whether or not to include these fields in
your header.

  Author
  Subject
  Date
  Time
  Recipients
  Priority

You can select any combination of partial print header fields.

In addition, you can now print a header by checking the Header
Text box and typing up to 80 characters of text.

cc:Mail Address Limit:
A cc:Mail address can be a maximum of 126 characters.

Entering Internet Addresses:
When you enter an Internet gateway address in the Address
field, you'll see a new button for entering Internet addresses in
the Post Office Addressing dialog box. Click this button and then
enter the recipient's name and domain in the Internet
Address Builder. cc:Mail will properly construct the address (you
can see the address constructed as you type it).

Entering Fax Addresses:
When you enter the name of a Fax gateway in the Address field,
you'll see a new button for entering Fax addresses in the
Post Office Addressing dialog box. Click this button and then
enter the recipient's name and fax number in the Fax Address
Builder. cc:Mail will properly construct the address
(you can see the address constructed as you type it).

Configuring the Fax and Internet Address Builders:
The [cc:Fax] and [cc:Internet] sections in WMAIL.INI
let you configure the new Fax and Internet Address
Builder dialog boxes. If the following sections are not
defined in WMAIL.INI, the default dialog boxes appear.

  [cc:Fax]
  EntryCount=2
  Entry1=Name
  Delimiter1=fax#
  Entry2=Number
  Delimiter2=

  [cc:Internet]
  EntryCount=2
  Entry1=Name
  Delimiter1=@
  Entry2=Domain
  Delimiter2=

o EntryCount: This field determines the number of entry
fields, not including the delimiter fields. You can
specify up to five entry fields.

o Entry(1-5): Specifies the names of the entry fields.

o Delimiter(1-5): Specifies the characters that separate
the entry fields when the address is built. You can
  specify up to five delimiters.

Entering X.400 Addresses:
When you enter the name of an X.400 gateway in the Address field,
you'll see a new button for entering X.400 addresses in the
Post Office Addressing dialog box. Click this button and then
enter the appropriate information in the X.400 Address Builder.

The X.400 recommendation defines a range of attributes such
as country, domain name, organization, and personal name that
identify users in the X.400 Message Handling System (MHS).
An originator/recipient (O/R) address is a set of identifying
attributes that uniquely identify an originator or recipient
(which could be people or application processes). A typical
O/R address consists of the following attributes that can
pass through an MHS:

        Country=US
	ADMD=Telemail
	PRMD=ccmail
	Surname=Valentine
	Given name=John

The O/R address uses these attributes to route a message from
one Administrative Management Domain (ADMD) to another. PRMD is
the Private Management Domain Name (see the field descriptions
below for details).

Following is a description of the fields in the X.400 Address
Builder. Click More in this dialog box to see all fields.

o Country (C): Enter the recipient's country as specified
in ISO 3166. Specify up to 2 characters. The default
   is the sender's country.

o Administration Management Domain Name (A): Enter a public
service provider, a common carrier, or a postal, telephone,
and telegraph authority (PTT). Specify up to 16 characters.

o Private Management Domain Name (P): Enter a company or
organization name. Specify up to 16 characters.

o Organization (O): Enter a division within a company or
organization to which the recipient belongs. Specify
   up to 64 characters.

o Telematic ID (T): This is also called the terminal identifier.
Enter an answerback which can be used to verify a delivery to
a telex terminal or facsimile machine. Specify up to 24
   printable string characters.

o Surname (S): Enter the last name of the recipient. Specify up
   to 40 characters.

o Given-name (G): Enter the first name of the recipient. Specify
   up to 16 characters.

o Initials (I): Enter all initials of the recipient except the
last name. Periods are optional. Specify up to 5 characters.

o Generational Qualifier (Q): Enter the generational specification,
such as Sr. or Jr. Periods are optional. Specify up to 3
   characters.

o Common Name (CN): Enter a printable string that can contain any
information within the given length and character set parameters.
   Specify up to 64 characters.

o Organization Unit (OU) [1-4]: Enter a division or department
within a company or large organization to which the recipient
belongs. Specify up to 4 organizational units of 32 characters
   each.

o Domain Defined Attributes Types (DDA) [Type 1-4, Value 1-4]:
Enter any special attributes defined by the organization, PRMD,
or ADMD to which the user belongs. Specify up to 4 domain defined
attributes of up to 128 characters each. For example, you could
enter a DDA Type of "LD" and a value for this type of "New
York." This domain defined attribute could stand for Lotus
   Development Corporation in New York.

After you enter these fields, cc:Mail will properly construct the
address.

Configuring the X.400 Address Builder:
The [cc:X400] section in WMAIL.INI lets you change the
parameter for Organizational Units from "OUn" to "On,"
where n is a number from 1 to 4.

[cc:X400]
Organizational Unit = O

For example, when the X.400 address is built, /O1 is sent
instead of /OU1.

New Viewers:
This release of cc:Mail Mobile for Windows includes several new
viewers. The new viewers require Microsoft Windows 3.1
and Microsoft OLE2 DLLs. The required OLE2 DLLs are automatically
installed in your WINDOWS/SYSTEM directory when you install
cc:Mail Mobile for Windows Release 2.2.

cc:Mail text attachments work as they always have. When you're
viewing any other type of attachment, the following differences
apply:

- New display and print options are available. Click the
right mouse button to use these new options. See the Help
system for a full description of all options.
- You cannot modify attachments (other than cc:Mail text
attachments) unless you run the application in which the
attachment was originally created. For example, in a cc:Mail
text attachment, you can find and replace text. In any other
type of attached item, you can find but you cannot replace text.

NOTE: If you receive a share violation while viewing an
attachment, load VSHARE.386 instead of SHARE.EXE. VSHARE.386
is available from Microsoft Corporation.

All viewers are installed by default; you can delete those that
you do not need.

CAUTION: Do not delete any files except those that begin with the
letters "VS." The following list includes the filter files that
you can safely delete. If you delete other viewer files, the view
filters will not work correctly.

Following is a list of the available viewers and the file formats
they support.
