Dear Fractal Enthusiast:

There is a revolution going on. But you won't see it on the six o'clock news
and you won't read about it on the front page of your favorite news paper. The
revolution even has a name. It's called "CHAOS" or chaos theory to be more
precise. Professionals from fields as diverse as population growth,
aerodynamics, biology and electronic communications are finding that their old
ways of dealing with complex real world problems mathematically are
inadequate. Chaos theory and fractals, aside from creating amazing images, are
producing insights into everyday problems in these fields. The revolution is
just starting. Each day new breakthroughs occur broadening our understanding
of the universe.

We stand on the threshold of a new world and a way of understanding that
world. With the use of powerful software we can gain understanding of this
entirely new science of "Chaos" theory and "Fractals". This revolution will
be lead by the masses just as in previous revolutions. The masses of people
that find artistic expression in these "monster formulas".

The programmers that produce the software that allows us to explore these
strange new worlds in our computers are the pioneers leading the way. Just as
previous revolutions changed the world, so too will Chaos theory change the
world and the way we perceive it. There is a lot of power in these tiny
little formulas. Mathematicians have known about these unruly problems for
years, they were known as monster formulas. Because they did not appear to
have solutions they were dismissed or ignored. It was not until the computer
age that these problems could begin to be solved. Further it was not until
personal computers and groups of dedicated programmers were thrown into the
mix that you could generate these images. So it is with a sense of excitement
that we are exploring this new terrain. Going were no one has gone before and
opening new doors every time we boot our computers and load our fractal
programs. You can join the revolution and become a pioneer in this chaotic
world. You have already started by purchasing this book.

It has been just eight years since I first began my explorations into
fractals. Through my involvement in computer art and fractals I have
discovered many amazing things. It is my pleasure to share some of the beauty
of these things with you. With the support of my friends and contemporaries at
MediaScape Communications Group, Inc. in association with Dick Oliver and
Daniel Hoviss we will continue to bring you software, insights, and images
from the world of CHAOS. Once you have started on your way into this world I
am sure you will come to understand what it means to have FractalVision.

An unabashed plug for MediaScape
---------------------------------

Many years ago I had the good fortune to be involved in the entertainment
industry. Through my involvement in this field I came in contact with many
talented people. Little did I know that years later I would have the good
fortune of working with these talented people and being partners in
MediaScape.

About MediaScape Communications Group, Inc.

In 1993 MediaScape Communications Group, Inc. was founded by Robert Goodman,

the "periodic order" in the world, has produced a company that is ready for
the evolutionary nature of Digital Information and Interactive Media.

MediaScape endeavors to bring the talent, experience and technical expertise
to develop unique and useful products for our customers. MediaScape is a
company founded on the premise that quality and service are the keys to
success.

Kyle Allen is Production Coordinator and cyber artist as well as a self
proclaimed techno-junky. He holds degrees in Electronic Technologies and
Graphic Arts. His journeys into the chaotic world has produced Fractal Visions
CD-ROM, as well as, the special edition fractal images contained on the
enclosed CD-ROM. Kyle is involved in communications technologies, electronic
arts, CD-ROM production, music engineering, video production and various other
fields depending on the phase of the moon. Kyle currently spends most of his
time exploring the inner workings of high end graphic programs and hounding
Jeff for add-ons and special features for MediaScape's product line. Kyle also
leads the alternative technologies forum on MediaServe.

What is MediaServe?

Several months ago MediaScape was barraged with requests for information about
our new product Fractal Visions CD-ROM. So much, that we quickly realized that
we needed other methods to respond to all the inquires. We began searching for
ways in which we could answer questions about our products and satisfy the
curiosity about fractals, computer art and other areas MediaScape is involved.
Therefore we created the MediaServe BBS.

Through our contacts with electronic artists, photographers and various other
sources we expect to have literally thousands of images on line in the coming
months. All of which can be browsed, using our unique thumbnail utility along
with standard key word searches.

MediaServe has "One off CD-ROM" capabilities. Not to mention that the customer
could send MediaScape their files to be placed on CD-ROM. For more information
just go to the CD-ROM forum and download CDINFO.ZIP.

MediaServe has something for just about anybody. You are virtually guaranteed
to find something of interest, plus we have monthly contests with prizes
awarded in each of our categories. You may even win a cruise to the Bahamas in
our best of Computer Art show held every six months, so give the MediaServe
BBS a call NOW!
