Instructions for Installing WaveRunner Digital Modem V2.0 Software
------------------------------------------------------------------

BEFORE INSTALLING:
This software upgrade is intended for current users of the WaveRunner
Digital Modem V1.0 only. This software is NOT compatible with
WaveRunner drivers that currently work under release 1.0. This
includes the SLIP-to-PPP converter beta code available on this BBS.
Users requiring conectivity to synchronous PPP via WaveRunner should
not upgrade to release 2.0 until WinISDN support is available. In
the future, PPP will be supported via third-party applications which
support PPP using the WinISDN interface. The announced availability
date for WinISDN support is April 28, 1995.

Thank you for using the IBM WaveRunner Digital Modem.

WAVERUNNER 2.0 FILES:
WR2WIN_1.EXE - Disk1 image for WaveRunner 2.0 enhancements for Windows.
WR2WIN_2.EXE - Disk2 image for WaveRunner 2.0 enhancements for Windows.
WR2DIAG.EXE - Disk image for WaveRunner 2.0 Diagnostics for ISA. This
disk is functionally equivalent to the diagnostics for
release 1.0, but does contain some bug fixes. This
disk must be a DOS bootable.
WR101OS2.EXE - Disk image for WaveRunner 1.01 for OS/2. This disk is
functionally equivalent to the WaveRunner OS/2 software
for release 1.0, but does contain some bug fixes.

The MCA options disk for WaveRunner has not changed from release 1.0
to release 2.0.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

DIRECTIONS FOR CREATING INSTALLATION DISKETTES:
1. Download the files described above as needed for your system from
the BBS or FTP site. Windows users need WR2WIN_1 and WR2WIN_2.
OS/2 users can refresh their WaveRunner software with WR101OS2.
ISA bus users can refresh their diagnostics software with WR2DIAG.

2. Insert a blank 1.44M, Double Density diskette into your disk drive.
If you are creating a diagnostics diskette, this disk must be a
DOS bootable diskette. To create a DOS bootable diskette:

   - Insert a diskette into your disk drive. Any data on this diskette
     will be lost.
   - Enter 'format a: /s' from a DOS prompt.
   - Follow the instructions that appear on your screen.

A bootable diskette should only be used for creating an ISA
diagnostics diskette. If you are using OS/2 and are unable to
create a DOS bootable diskette, follow the instructions later in
this file to fax us and obtain a new diagnostics disk by mail.

3. From a DOS prompt, type the filename of the disk image you want to
unpack, the parameter '-d', and the target disk drive. For example,
if you want to create WaveRunner for Windows installation disk 1,
you should enter the following from a DOS command prompt:

   WR2WIN_1 -d A:

Repeat steps 2 & 3 for each disk image downloaded.

4. For Windows installation, insert Windows disk 1 into the a: drive.
Click on the Program Manager 'File' menu pulldown and select
'Run...'. At the Command Line dialog enter a:setup.exe and click
on 'OK'. Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.

For OS/2 installation, follow the instructions in the READ.ME file
that is found on your new OS/2 installation disk to remove installed
OS/2 drivers. Then, with the OS/2 installation diskette inserted in
your disk drive, Enter 'a:setup' from an OS/2 command prompt. Follow
the instructions displayed on the screen.

To run ISA diagnostics, simply insert the ISA diagnostics diskette
into the A: drive and reboot your computer. It should come back up
with the first diagnostics menu screen.

5. Please be sure to read the READ.ME file before using your updated
WaveRunner Digital Modem to learn about any last minute changes.

FAX SUPPORT FOR WAVERUNNER 2.0:
The MCIFAX interface is still supported in release 2.0, however
improvements have been made to the original Trio DataFax Lite
application included with WaveRunner 1.0. It is our understanding that
Trio Information Systems plans to offer upgrades through their own BBS
service. Refer to Chapter 12 in your Trio DataFax Lite User's Guide
for more information about Trio Technical Support. We will include
more detail here about upgrading your Trio DataFax Lite application as
we get it.

The WaveRunner Digital Modem v2.0 supports class 2 fax. To use your
class 2 fax application, make sure the WaveRunner modem driver is
loaded (click on the 'modem' icon in the WaveRunner Digital Modem
program group) before trying to send or receive faxes. Otherwise,
configure your class 2 fax application as you normally would for a
standard analog fax/modem.
