Prior to SoftSolutions 3.1, the native character set of a SoftSolutions
dataset was ASCII. SoftSolutions 4.1 now stores all data in the ANSI
character set. You should select 'Y'es if a) the current dataset contains
international characters; AND, b) SoftSolutions 3.0 for Windows has not been
used to access the dataset. If the current dataset contains only English
characters OR SoftSolutions 3.0 for Windows has been used to access the
dataset, select 'N'o.

The Sorting Method determines the order that characters are sorted
with respect to each other. Prior to the release of SoftSolutions 3.1,
the sorting order was ASCII. The ASCII sorting order does not take
into account special sorting requirements for International characters.
For this reason, three new sorting methods have been added to meet the
needs of sorting International characters properly. The sorting methods
are "GERMANIC", "ROMANCE", "NORDIC" and "HUNGARIAN". The Germanic sorting
method is used by the German, Dutch, Spanish languages, and U.S.
International languages. The Romance sorting method is used by the French,
French Canadian, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish (Modern) languages. The
Nordic sorting method is used by the Danish, Finnish, Icelandic, Norwegian,
and Swedish languages. The Hungarian sorting method is used by Hungary.
"ASCII" will continue to sort characters as it had previously.

SoftSolutions 2.0 allowed individual version records to specify
applications different from the profile application. Enter 'Y'es if
you want any such version record to be added as a new profile and
related to the original profile. Selecting 'N'o will set all
document versions to the profile application.

SoftSolutions 4.1 provides customized screen definitions that can
be set for each user. Two 'default' screen definitions are provided.
The WINDEF screen definition is generally used by users who run the
Windows version of SoftSolutions.
The DEFAULT screen definition is generally used by users who run the
DOS or UNIX version of SoftSolutions.
Select the screen definition that you think would be the appropriate
default for all users. For example, if you anticipate that most
users will be using SoftSolutions for Windows, select 'WINDEF'.

*901 This program will convert a SoftSolutions 2.0 dataset to the
SoftSolutions 3.1 data format. The original 2.0 data files will
remain intact. You may delete them at the completion of the
conversion process. This program must have exclusive access to all
SoftSolutions data files. If any users are currently using the
SoftSolutions 2.0 data files they must exit before you can continue.
This program will create a new SoftSolutions 3.1 dataset where the
converted data will be placed; this dataset will need approximately
1.5 - 2.0 times the current size of your SS 2.0 dataset. You may
wish to verify that you have sufficient disk space for the
conversion.

Press ENTER to continue or any other key to exit.

String Log File
This file lists the differences between the existing strings
file and the new strings file. In each case the new string is
listed first. If either string ID does not have an entry, then
that string did not exist in that file. Note that any new
strings that were not found in the existing strings file were
automatically added to the corresponding .txt file.
