This file contains important install information that is not
documented in the Getting Started with HiJaak Graphics Suite
Guide. It describes changes to the floppy install, CD-ROM
install, and network workstation install. This document also
contains information on installing HiJaak Graphics Suite on
systems with the following configurations: compressed drives;
shared Windows installation on a network drive; systems using
SuperStor 1.0, Stacker 1.0 or Norton Desktop for Windows.
Finally, it contains information on using a modem during install
and instructions for deinstalling HiJaak Graphics Suite.

NOTE: The May 1995 release of HiJaak Graphics Suite includes
additional changes to the install not listed here. For the most
recent installation information, refer to the Help file INSTLPRO.HLP
which is located in the INSET directory.

IMPORTANT!
HiJaak Graphics Suite gives you various options for install.
The CD-ROM includes 3000 clip art images, whereas the floppy
disks include only about 100 images. Therefore, the options
and required disk space vary depending on whether you are
installing from floppy disks or CD-ROM.

Floppy Install
From floppy disks, you can install the entire HiJaak Graphics
Suite or only selected portions. Installing all files requires
a hard disk with at least 22 megabytes of free disk space. If
you do not have enough free disk space, you can use Custom
Install to install a subset of the Suite.

Page 1-6 of the Getting Started with HiJaak Graphics Suite
guide indicates that if you select Multimedia Extensions in
the Custom Install Options dialog box, the drivers for
QuickTime Animation will be installed. These drivers are only
installed from CD-ROM; therefore, if you install from floppy
disks, you will not be able to play *.MOV files.

CD-ROM Install
From CD-ROM, you can install all HiJaak Graphics Suite files,
run all files from the CD-ROM, or install some files and run
others from the CD-ROM. Installing all files requires a hard
disk with at least 68 megabytes of free disk space; this
includes 18 megabytes needed to install the clip art Index and
26 megabytes needed to install the 3000 clip art files.

Page 1-3 of the Getting Started with HiJaak Graphics Suite
guide indicates that if you select Full Install, all files are
installed. However, if you are installing from CD-ROM to a
local drive, Full Install does not install the 3000 clip art
images included on the CD-ROM. A Browser Index referencing
the clip art is installed, and you can use the Index to access
the clip art any time the CD-ROM is in the drive. Note that you
can install the clip art files later by running the HJSetup
program. If you want to install all of the clip art images
locally, select Custom Install and Install to INSET Directory
for the clip art and any other options you want to run locally.

If you are installing to a network server, Full Install will
install all files, including the 3000 pieces of clip art. For
more information on installing to a network server, refer to the
Windows Write File NETWORK.WRI, located in the INSET directory
on the CD-ROM.

WORKSTATION INSTALL
In the Getting Started With HiJaak Graphics Suite guide, step 4
of the procedure How to Install on a Workstation on page 1-8
has changed. The second paragraph should read, "In the HiJaak
Graphics Suite Directory field, type the path where you want
HiJaak Graphics Suite files installed. The default is C:\INSET."

INSTALLING TO A COMPRESSED DRIVE
If you are installing HiJaak Graphics Suite to a drive that has
been compressed using a program such as Stacker, DoubleSpace or
SuperStor, you may experience problems if the drive does not have
significantly more free space than the install requires.
Compression programs calculate the amount of available space based
on how much the files will be compressed; they do not calculate
the actual amount of free space. Since some HiJaak Graphics Suite
files might not compress as much as the compression program
calculates, there may not be enough space on the drive. For more
information, refer to your drive compression software's documentation.

INSTALLING ON SHARED NETWORK WINDOWS INSTALLATIONS
If you are sharing a Windows installation on a network drive, you
may not have write rights to the WINDOWS and WINDOWS\SYSTEM
directories. If you do not have write rights to these directories,
you will NOT be able to install HiJaak Graphics Suite. Contact
your network administrator and have him or her either install the
software for you or give you write rights to these directories so
you can perform the installation.

USING SUPERSTOR 1.0
The installation software used in HiJaak Graphics Suite is not
compatible with SuperStor version 1.0. If you are using this
version of SuperStor, either install HiJaak Graphics Suite to
an uncompressed drive or update your SuperStor to at least
version 2.0.
__________________________________________________________________

USING STACKER 1.0
The installation software used in HiJaak Graphics Suite is not
compatible with Stacker version 1.0. If you are using this
version of Stacker, either install HiJaak Graphics Suite to
an uncompressed drive or update your Stacker to at least
version 2.0.

USING NORTON DESKTOP FOR WINDOWS
The installation of HiJaak Graphics Suite may move the Startup
group on your desktop when it finishes, whether or not you chose
to put the Smuggler icon in the Startup group. All you
need to do is move the group icon back where you normally keep
it.
__________________________________________________________________

USING A MODEM DURING INSTALL
If you are not a pre-registered user of HiJaak Graphics Suite,
then the Install will prompt you to register by modem. Therefore, it
is recommended that you end any modem connections before installing
HiJaak Graphics Suite.

A NOTE ABOUT DEINSTALLING HIJAAK GRAPHICS SUITE
HiJaak Graphics Suite installs certain DLL and other support
files in order to operate. Some of these files may have already
been present because they are used by other Windows
applications you may have installed. In this case, removing
the files would cause those other applications to stop operating
correctly. For this reason, deinstalling HiJaak Graphics Suite
intentionally does not remove these support files.
