Images Incorporated 3.1
Release Notes

This document details bugs and potential problems in Images Incorporated
which were not known at the time the user manual was printed.

1) If you move the Images Incorporated program on your hard disk without
using the installation process, you must manually update the MS Windows
Registration Database. The Registration Database allows OLE applications
to find Images Incorporated, thus enabling these applications to embed
FIF files and Fractal Enhanced Images. Updating your Registration
   Database is a simple process.

        a) In the Images Incorporated program directory, there is a
file called "IMGINC.REG". Using the NOTEPAD application,
edit this file to reflect the new location of Images
           Incorporated.
        b) Save this file and exit from the NOTEPAD application.
        c) From the Program Manager, run the application REGEDIT
           (located in the Windows directory).
        d) From the "File" menu in REGEDIT, choose
"Merge Registration File", and select the
IMGINC.REG file from the Images Inc. program directory.
        e) Save your changes and exit from the REGEDIT program

2) When using FTC-II, the Fractal Transform Compression board II, the
very first compression will take longer (3-5 minutes) than all
subsequent compressions. You will notice a delay of approximately 3
minutes after selecting the FIF format from the Convert dialog box.
This is normal, since at this point the compression board is
initialized. The program has NOT crashed. This delay affects only
   the first compression.

3) If you experience an "Out of memory" error when opening a large
number of FIF images simultaneously, be sure to exit from Images
Incorporated and restart the program before opening another FIF image.
Receiving an "Out of memory" error under these circumstances may
cause the decompressor to become unstable. Exiting and restarting
Images Incorporated will avoid a program fault when attempting
   to decompress another FIF image.

4) If you are running Windows 3.0, be sure to add the Images Incorporated
directory to your path. Otherwise, you will not be able to compress
   image files.

5) A 32 bit image must be converted to a 24 bit image before printing.

6) The keyboard shortcuts for Cut, Copy and Paste do not work.
You must use the mouse to Cut, Copy and Paste images.

7) When converting files to JFIF format, the quality parameters 96-100
may cause some very large images to be only partially compressed.

8) The User Manual incorrectly states that JFIF colormapped format
   is supported by Images Incorporated.
