INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

From the DOS prompt type RUNBR and tap ENTER.

From WINDOWS double-click on the BANK ACCOUNT ORGANIZER icon.

GETTING STARTED

Select CONTROL UPDATE from the MAIN MENU to build your bank
accounts. The BANK ACCOUNT ORGANIZER, as initially
installed, contains three bank accounts with sample data.
You can delete these and add your own, or just add
additional ones of your own. After selecting CONTROL UPDATE,
press CTRL M (Hold down Ctrl and press m) to switch into modify
mode. Highlight the bank account to delete and press the F3
key. To add new accounts press CTRL C to enter the create mode.

The number of the account and the description of the account
are the only fields you can change. To enter the beginning
balances in your accounts use TRANSACTION INPUT.
After building the BANK ACCOUNT CONTROL files you are ready
to start entering transactions and initial balances for your
accounts.

TRANSACTION INPUT

Transaction input enables you to enter the detail into each
of your bank accounts. You can enter checks written,
deposits, miscellaneous items (service charge, cash
withdraw, charges, etc.), and transfer of funds between
accounts (to record telephone or electronic transfers).
When first entering Transaction Input, the first field to
enter is the bank account you want to use to enter the
transaction. Type the bank account or press F5 to display
available bank accounts. After entering the account, the
title and balance will display at the top of your screen.

Enter the TYPE of transaction (C=Check, D=Deposit,
M=Miscellaneous, T=Transfer). If you select C, enter the
check number, or tap the RGHT-ARROW if the number already there is
correct.

Next enter the DATE, DESCRIPTION, AMOUNT of the transaction.

Enter the category for the transaction. Use F5 to pop-up a
list of available categories. Use the UP-ARROW and DOWN-ARROW to move
through the file category by category; PG-UP and PG-DN keys display
the next and previous page of categories. Highlight the
category you want and press ENTER to select it. To add a new
category, press CTRL C and type in the new category and category
description.

For a TYPE other than T, the program will automatically
advance to the next line for you to input another
transaction. If you selected a TYPE of T, enter the bank
account number for the reverse side of this transfer.

ACCOUNT INQUIRY

Account Inquiry first displays each bank account available
along with the current balance of that account. Select the
bank account you want by positioning the highlight to that
account. Press F5 to display the detail items for that
account.

The detail for the account is displayed with the last
entries first. Use the UP-ARROW and DOWN-ARROW to move through
the file item by item; PG-UP and PG-DN keys display the next
and previous page of items. To locate a particular record press
CTRL L, the screen will clear and display a template of fields
you can use to find a particular record. Use the TAB key to move
through the fields to the one you want to search by; type the
name of the field you are searching for and press ENTER to execute
the search. Use CTRL N to locate the next occurrence of the field
you entered. Using CTRL R in place of CTRL L above you can limit the
search by pressing the F8 after entering the first field (in
place of the ENTER key) then enter a "TO" range to locate; only
items within the range specified will display. Press ENTER to
execute the search. Press ESCAPE when you are finished viewing
the items.

account and then tap RGHT-ARROW, or press F5 to pop-up the

the cleared transactions and let you reset a transaction
back to uncleared.

Select CONSOLE (C) to display the BANK RECONCILIATION REPORT
on your screen, or PRINTER (P) to print it on your printer.
After your selections are made, a pop-up box will ask you to
confirm that the selections are correct. Enter Y (Yes) to
continue or N (No) to return to the start-up screen.

Next, all transactions for the bank account you selected
that have not been cleared will be displayed. Use the UP, DOWN,
PG-UP, PG-DN to view the transactions. Type C to mark a displayed
transactions as cleared, or U to change it back to
uncleared. If you find an amount is wrong, you can backup
into the amount field using the LEFT-ARROW and change the amount
(which will automatically update the bank account balance).

After you have finished marking transactions, tap u to print
the bank reconciliation report. This report will list all
uncleared transactions and at the end show if you are in
balance with the bank. If you are out of balance, check your
transactions to make sure that you have not missed marking
any as cleared, or have accidentally marked one as cleared
that should not have been. Also check to make sure that you
did not forget to enter any miscellaneous charges, and check
the amount of each transaction to make sure that numbers
were not transposed or incorrectly entered.

PRINT DETAIL TRANSACTIONS

The PRINT DETAIL TRANSACTIONS will print a list of the
transactions for the bank account and date range you
specify. You can select to print it to screen or printer.

transactions for the bank account and date range you
specify. Only transactions with a category code are
selected, and totals are printed at the end of each
category. You can select to print it to screen or printer.
Use this report to print all of the transactions for the
year to use as a worksheet to help figure you taxes.

DELETE CLEARED TRANSACTIONS

The DELETE CLEARED TRANSACTIONS enables you to clear out old
transactions and speed up access of the BANK ACCOUNT
ORGANIZER files. Enter the bank account and the date. All
transactions that are marked as cleared with a date before
the date you entered will be deleted. The summary total of
the deleted transactions will be put into one transaction to
