                     FAXserve DOS Client - version 2.0 12/3/93

This version of the FAXserve DOS Client contains the following product
enhancements:

1. To avoid synchronization problems between the FAXserve Manager option to
"customize the user's profile" (more specifically, the CAS default path)
and the FAXserve DOS Client configuration option (i.e. F8 on the popup
screen), the DOS Client will now display your "previous" CAS path.

In other words, changing your default CAS path in the FAXserve Manager,
only updates the CAS path definition in the FAXserve DOS Client
configuration option. Any CAS paths previously specified for the
phonebook, logo or text files are not updated according to that new CAS
path definition, instead, your previous CAS path is displayed. To update
to the new CAS path, select the CAS option and save the new configuration.
You may also leave the previously specified CAS path as is, and
reference a path that is different from both your new CAS and User paths.

2. Certain applications create very significant delays between the capture
initialization and sending the data to the specified parallel port. To
overcome this, a timeout command line parameter is added to the FAXDOS
program. If left unspecified, the default timeout is 10 seconds between
capturing two consecutive characters. If this delay is insufficient, the
initial popup screen reappears after the job is submitted "successfully".
To change the default, reload FAXDOS with a /T parameter, followed by the
new delay time in seconds. FAXDOS /? explains this in detail.

This timeout feature should also fix any problems printing to LPT1 from
within an application. Capturing to LPT1 is more sensitive to interruption
because it is monitored by DOS for Print Screen information.

3. NetWare's capture command and the FAXDOS TSR are now functioning in harmony.
Loading FAXDOS to the same port already captured by a NetWare CAPTURE causes
the previous capture to be disabled. FAXDOS will own this port, even if
another CAPTURE is issued to the same port. However, FAXDOS may be suspended
using the <crtl> <r> hot key combination to initiate "local" mode. This
allows a CAPTURE to the same port to be initiated while FAXDOS remains
loaded. Another <ctrl> <r> to initiate "remote" mode, causes FAXDOS to
   regain control of that port.

Problems related to FAXDOS interfering with CAPTUREs to LPT1 are fixed.

4. The new FAXDOS is now sensitive to network connection status. If your
connection is lost and FAXDOS is loaded, it automatically shifts into
"local" mode. If you login to the same server, you may re-establish your
FAXDOS connection with <ctrl> <r>, which initiates "remote" mode.

Along these lines, another timeout feature is implemented. If the popup
screen remains active for more than 30 minutes (1993 seconds to be exact)
and no fax is sent, then FAXDOS automatically initiates "local" mode.

5. The new FAXSEND program has improved its command line parsing capacity.
It now validates server names and qualified paths under all conditions.

6. The FAXDOS cover letter text editor and the text file import and export
   functions are improved.

7. Logo and text file selection pick list are now sorted.
