IBM VISUALIZER DEVELOPMENT FOR OS/2 VERSION 1.0
  _______________________________________________

Visualizer Development for OS/2 is a member of the Visualizer family of
products. It is a companion product to Visualizer Query for OS/2 that
enables you to produce your own customized front end for the query and
manipulation of data, both corporate and personal.

Visualizer Development provides a Workplace Shell enabled environment for the
prototyping and creation of client server solutions. It is a rapid, high
level development tool with a smaller learning curve when compared with
languages such as 'C'. It possesses unique capability when combining
customization with other powerful business tools via its APIs and DDE
  linkages.

Visualizer Development provides support for developing CUA compliant
applications and can create solutions that fully utilize the OS/2 Workplace
Shell with its drag/drop user interface. Use of a 4th generation Object
Oriented programming language, such as that provided with Visualizer
  Development, can speed this process.

Visualizer Development consists of desktop objects that manage the

o Visual layout of the user interface

The Window Editor is a quick and easy interface design tool featuring CUA
extended selection of controls, grids and alignment and window
navigation. It supports the drag/drop of menus and bitmaps.

o Content and action of menu pulldowns

The Menu Editor allows you to build action bar pull-downs and pop-up
menus. You can define the actions for the menus on a window by drag/drop
      techniques.

o Editing and generation of application logic

The Program Editor is specially designed for event-driven language
structures, including simultaneous views of multiple event blocks. It
      provides:

      - Code generation of the EUI by drag/drop of the Window and Menu
          objects
      - Integrated code, format, syntax check, compile and run of the event
          block code
      - Full on-line context-sensitive syntax help

o Application components and their compilation

The Make object organizes your application source, programs, windows and
menus, into a compilable application. All objects can be added using
      drag/drop techniques.

Visualizer Development provides a comprehensive object-based programming
  language (ASL) which includes

o Extensive support for application programming interfaces (APIs) for
connection to other Visualizer objects such as Reports, Charts and
      Statistics

o Ability to link to existing applications written in C and OS/2 REXX to an
application end-user interface through the Window and Menu facilities

o Multi-media object using MMPM/2 facility which allows video and sound to
be captured, edited and played back anywhere in your application

o Full clipboard support giving integration with other OS/2 applications
      appearing on your desktop

o Ability to link to Help Manager to associate online help with your
      applications

o Interfaces to mail systems that support the SMI functions of the vendor
      independent messaging (VIM) specification

o Programmable DDE link to other desktop products

o Extensive reach to relational and non-relational data via objects that

      - Access the DB2 Family of products
      - Connect with the AS/400 via PC Support as well as DRDA
      - Use Application System (AS) and QMF as an Intelligent Server
      - Provide read and write capability to various PC data formats
      - Link with other data-providing software (eg.TECHGnOsIs, Q+E) giving
access to databases such as Oracle, SYBASE etc.
