                 --------------------------------------------

This document explains how to install Lotus Data Access Tools 2.0 for Windows.
In order to use the "DataLens for Notes" you must be running Lotus Notes for Windows
Release 3.0 or later and Microsoft Windows(tm) 3.1 or later. In order to use the
DataLens or ODBC drivers with Lotus 1-2-3 for Windows you must be running 1-2-3
Release 4 or later and Microsoft Windows 3.1 or later.

--------------------------------------------
INSTALLING DATA ACCESS TOOLS 2.0 FOR WINDOWS
--------------------------------------------

1.	Ensure that no other Windows application is running.

NOTE: Backup any existing Lotus Datalens registration files (LOTUS.BCF) by copying
them to a separate directory or diskette.

NOTE: If performing a node install, please make sure that any DataLens section in
the node's LOTUS.INI file is deleted before running the install application.

2.	Insert the "Data Access Tools for Windows" diskette into your disk drive.

3.	From the Program Manager, select File Run. In the "Command Line" edit box, type
A:\INSTALL and click the "OK" button. After the Install procedure has temporarily
copied its files to your hard disk, the "Welcome to the Lotus Data Access Tools 2.0
	for Windows" dialog box appears.

NOTE: Replace "A" with the letter that represents the appropriate disk drive. If
you are installing Data Access Tools from a server, use that letter and
full path to the install program instead; for example: J:\LOTUS\DAT20\INSTALL.

4.	Fill in the "Your Name" and "Company Name" edit boxes. If you are a server
administrator and are installing on a server, select "Install on a file
server" check box. Click the "Yes" button to continue.

5.	The "Confirm Names" dialog box will appear. Click the "Next" button to continue.

6.	The "Install Options & Data Access Tools Directory" dialog box will appear. Select
"All features - Automatic Install" to install all of the Data Access Tools and Help
files and all of the ODBC and Datalens drivers. Skip to STEP 8.

Select "Custom features - Manual Install" to manually select which applications,
ODBC drivers, and DataLens drivers you will install. The "Customize" dialog box
	will appear.

7.	To deselect an option, click the check box for that option. All options are selected
by default. You may deselect ODBC Drivers and DataLens Drivers by navigating to the
appropriate driver "tab". Click the "Next" button to continue.

CAUTION: Do NOT change the path for any of the ODBC Drivers. The ODBC drivers will
not function correctly if you choose the "Change Path" option.

8.	If you have not installed any Lotus products that store files in the "Lotus Shared
Applications Directory", you will be prompted for the path of the Lotus Shared
application files. The default is WINDOWS\LOTUSAPP. Click the "Next" button to
	continue.

Skip to STEP 11 if you did not select the DataLens Paradox or DataLens
	SQLServer drivers.

9.	The "SQL Server Name" dialog box will appear. Enter the name of your SQLServer in
the "Type your SQL server name" edit box. Click the "Next" button to continue.

10.	The "Paradox Network Information" dialog box will appear. If you will access Paradox
Tables on the network and you will share them with other users, select both
check boxes and enter the complete path to your PARADOX.NET file. Select Next to
	continue.

11.	The "Select Program Group" dialog box will appear. Select the Windows program group
you want for the Lotus Data Access Tools icons. Icons may or may not be added
to this group if you performed a "Custom features - Manual Install" install in
STEP 6. Click the "Next" button to continue.

12.	The "Begin Copying Files" dialog box will appear. Select "Yes" to continue.

13.	Select "Reboot" if asked to update AUTOEXEC.BAT otherwise, select "Done" when the
	"Install Complete" dialog box appears

----------------------------------------
CONSOLIDATING LOTUS SHARED APPLICATIONS:
----------------------------------------

During Installation of the Data Access Toolkit, a dialog box may be displayed providing
you with a choice as to how you would like to consolidate your Lotus Shared
Applications. The Install procedure will try to consolidate the Lotus Shared
Application directories if you have previously installed Lotus Shared Application files
on different drives. You will be prompted for a drive and directory to contain the
consolidated files. When consolidating your Lotus Shared Application directories be
aware that:

o If the Lotus Notes Help databases were previously installed in LotusApp\DOC
they will be copied to the new consolidated Lotusapp directory but they will
not be removed from the old Lotusapp\DOC directory. You may wish to delete
them from the old Lotusapp\DOC directory.

o	If the Lotus 1-2-3 DataLens Help file (DL_4_WIN.HLP) was previously installed
in the LotusApp\DATALENS subdirectory it will be copied to the new consolidated
Lotusapp directory but it will not be removed from the old Lotusapp\DATALENS
directory. You may wish to delete it from the old Lotusapp\DATALENS directory.

o	If the DataLens ORACLE message file (DLNUS.MSB) was previously installed in the
LotusApp\DATALENS\DBS subdirectory it will be copied to the new consolidated
Lotusapp directory but it will not be removed from the old
Lotusapp\DATALENS\DBS directory. You may wish to delete it from the old
		Lotusapp\DATALENS\DBS directory.

Occasionally, after performing a consolidation of the Lotus Shared Applications, a
second dialog box may appear requesting the location of the Lotus Shared Applications
Directory. Click on the "Next" button. Do not type in a different subdirectory than
that provided.

-------------
REQUIREMENTS:
-------------

For 1-2-3 for Windows and Lotus Notes VIP(tm) users, the installation procedure
automatically updates the DataLens registration file, LOTUS.BCF. The installation
is complete.

For Lotus Notes Release 3.X for Windows users, the installation procedure adds
information for each driver selected to the DATALENS.INI file. Additionally, data
sources must be configured using the "DataLens Administration Tool" and "DataLens
for Notes" must be installed. "DataLens for Notes" and the "DataLens Administration
Tool" require that the directory name containing the Lotus Notes program files be
included in the DOS path. You may get the error message "cannot load _LIB.DLL" if
neither of these conditions are met.

In order to use the "Lotus ODBC NotesSQL" driver, Lotus Notes Release 3.0 or later
must be installed and the directory containing the Notes application files must be in
the DOS path.

-------------
DOCUMENTATION
-------------

Lotus Notes:

Install copies the "DataLens for Lotus Notes" database to the \DOC directory in your
Notes data directory if you select "All Drivers" or "Help Files" from the "Customize"
dialog box. If the data directory for Lotus Notes cannot be determined, Install will
copy the "DataLens for Lotus Notes" database to the Lotusapp\DOC subdirectory. The
Lotus Notes data directory may not be found for any of the following reasons:

o	Lotus Notes is not installed

o	The file NOTES.INI is missing from the WINDOWS directory

o	The "Directory" entry is missing from the [Notes] section of the NOTES.INI
		file.

"DataLens for Lotus Notes" is an online book. It explains:

o	How to install DataLens for Lotus Notes (for future reference)

o	How to install additional DataLens drivers

o	How to add, reconfigure, and delete data sources

o	How to use the Notes @DbColumn, @DbLookup, and @DbCommand functions with
		DataLens

o	How to modify the DATALENS.INI registration file for each driver.

You can read "DataLens for Lotus Notes" in Notes (just add it to your
workspace and browse through it like any other database. You can also print the book by
following the printing instructions in the database's "Using DataLens for Lotus Notes"
document.

1-2-3 for Release 5 for Windows:

Install copies the "DataLens for 1-2-3 for Windows" help file to the 1-2-3 for Windows
PROGRAMS directory if you select "All Drivers" or "Help Files" from the "Customize"
dialog box. If the install process can not determine the Lotus 1-2-3 for Windows
Program Directory, then the "Lotus DataLens for Windows" help file (DL_4_WIN.HLP) will
be copied to the LotusApp\DATALENS subdirectory. The Lotus 1-2-3 Program directory may
not be found because:

o	Lotus 1-2-3 for Windows is not installed

o	The "123w" entry is missing from the [Lotus Applications] section of LOTUS.INI
		in your WINDOWS directory.

o	The LOTUS.INI file is missing from your WINDOWS directory.

"DataLens for 1-2-3 for Windows" is an MS Windows 3.1 compatible help file. It explains:

o	How to Install the DataLens Drivers

o	How to modify the DataLens Registration File (LOTUS.BCF)

o	Specific configuration information for each DataLens Driver

	o	Information for Administrators

The DataLens ORACLE Driver:

Install copies the DataLens ORACLE Driver message file, (DLNUS.MSB) to the ORACLE Home
Directory's \DBS subdirectory if you select "All Drivers" or "ORACLE" from the
"DataLens Drivers" tab in the "Customize" dialog box. If the install process can not
determine the ORACLE Home Directory, DLNUS.MSB will be copied to the
LotusApp\DATALENS\DBS subdirectory. The ORACLE Home Directory may not be found
because:

o	The necessary ORACLE software is not installed.

o	The DBS subdirectory does not exist under the ORACLE Home directory.

Once the necessary ORACLE software has been installed, you may wish to copy DLNUS.MSB
to the ORACLE Home Directory's \DBS subdirectory.
