                   1.0 NEW FEATURES
---------------------------------------------------------
1.1 SUPPORT FOR IBM OS/2 WARP VERSION 3

This version of Sytos Premium is compatible with IBM
    OS/2 Warp version 3.

---------------------------------------------------------
             2.0 INSTALLING SYTOS PREMIUM
---------------------------------------------------------
2.1 EDIT CONFIG.SYS BEFORE UPGRADING TO OR RE-INSTALLING
SYTOS PREMIUM TO A DIFFERENT DIRECTORY

If you want to upgrade or re-install Sytos Premium to
a new Sytos Premium directory, edit your CONFIG.SYS
file before running the install program. Remove the
DEVICE= line for your backup device in the CONFIG.SYS
    file.

If you do not remove this line and allow Sytos
Premium to edit your CONFIG.SYS file during
installation, remove the REM statement in front of
the DEVICE= line in the CONFIG.SYS file after
    installation.

2.2 VIEWING SYTOS PLUS VOLUMES IN THE SYTOS PREMIUM
    LIBRARY

If you want to view a Sytos Plus volume in
Sytos Premium, add the volume to the Sytos Premium
Library using [Add To Library] in the Sytos Premium
    Library window.

2.3 SET UP REBOUND AFTER INSTALLING SYTOS PREMIUM

You should set up Rebound after installing
Sytos Premium. Rebound is Sytos Premium's disaster
recovery utility for recovering your OS/2 operating
system after hard disk failures or crashes.

You cannot recover your system using Rebound if you
did not run Setup before the disaster. Refer to
Chapter 2 in the Sytos Premium User's Guide for
    instructions.

NOTE: Sytos Rebound does not support autoloader
       devices.

---------------------------------------------------------
             3.0 INSTALLING SCSI ADAPTER SUPPORT
---------------------------------------------------------

3.1 INSTALLING SCSI ADAPTER DEVICE DRIVERS UNDER
IBM OS/2 VERSION 2.x AND WARP VERSION 3

For Sytos Premium to access a SCSI backup device
under OS/2 version 2.x and Warp version 3, the device
driver for the SCSI host adapter must be included in
CONFIG.SYS. Ensure that the following two lines
    appear in CONFIG.SYS:

         BASEDEV=[ADD-name].ADD
         BASEDEV=OS2SCSI.DMD

where [ADD-name].ADD corresponds to your SCSI Adapter
    device driver.

Sytos Premium supports the following SCSI adapters
    under OS/2 2.x and Warp version 3:

    ADAPTER SCSI ADAPTER
                                   DEVICE DRIVER (.ADD)

    Adaptec AHA-1505 AHA152X.ADD
    Adaptec AHA-1510 AHA152X.ADD
    Adaptec AHA-1515 AHA152X.ADD
    Adaptec AHA-1520/1522 AHA152X.ADD
    Adaptec AHA-1530 AHA152X.ADD
    Adaptec AHA-1540/1542 AHA154X.ADD
    Adaptec AHA-1570/1572 AHA152X.ADD
    Adaptec AHA-1640 AHA164X.ADD
    Adaptec AHA-1740/1742/1744
      in Enhanced Mode AHA174X.ADD
    Adaptec AHA-1740/1742/1744
      in Standard Mode AHA154X.ADD
    Adaptec AHA-2740/2742 AIC7770.ADD
    Adaptec AHA-2840/2842 AIC7770.ADD
    Adaptec AHA-2940 AIC7870.ADD
    Adaptec AIC-6260/6360 AHA152X.ADD
    Adaptec AIC-7770 AIC7770.ADD
    DPT SK 2011 DPT20XX.ADD
    DPT SK 2012 DPT20XX.ADD
    Future Domain TMC-850/885 FD8XX.ADD
    Future Domain TMC-1650/1660/
       1670/1680 FD16-700.ADD
    Future Domain MCS-600/700 FD16-700.ADD
    IBM 16-bit AT SCSI FD16-700.ADD
    IBM Embedded SCSI IBM2SCSI.ADD
    IBM Microchannel (MCA) SCSI IBM2SCSI.ADD

If the .ADD file for your adapter is not supplied
with OS/2, contact your SCSI adapter manufacturer.

3.2 INSTALLING IBM SCSI SUPPORT UNDER IBM OS/2
    VERSION 1.3

For Sytos Premium to access a backup device from an
IBM SCSI adapter under IBM OS/2 version 1.3, run
DDINSTAL from the OS/2 command prompt. When OS/2
prompts you for a device driver diskette, insert
Sytos Premium Install Disk 1 and continue. This
action installs the proper IBM SCSI adapter device
driver, SCSI.SYS, required to use the adapter from
    OS/2 version 1.3.

3.3 INSTALLING ADDITIONAL DEVICE SUPPORT

To install additional device support after installing
Sytos Premium, click on [New device] in the Setup
window. Change the Working Directory to A: or B: and
insert Sytos Premium Install Disk 1. If needed,
Sytos Premium prompts you for additional diskettes.

3.4 INSTALLING TECMAR HDE+ SCSI ADAPTER DEVICE DRIVERS

If your backup device runs from an HDE+ SCSI host
adapter, ensure that the following line appears in
    your CONFIG.SYS file:

         DEVICE=[drive:]\[path]\SYFILES\ASPI4OS2.HDP

where [drive:]\[path] corresponds to the drive and
directory where the Sytos Premium files are
    installed.

Sytos Premium automatically adds the above
DEVICE= line to your CONFIG.SYS file when you install
    the following drivers:

         Tecmar QVlt HDE+
         Tecmar QVlt 720 HDE+
         Tecmar QVlt 2400 HDE+
         Tecmar QVlt 4000 HDE+

If you do not let Sytos Premium modify your
CONFIG.SYS file during installation or you add the
above drivers after installing Sytos Premium, you
must manually add the DEVICE= line for the HDE+ SCSI
host adapter to your CONFIG.SYS file.

---------------------------------------------------------
                      4.0 LIMITATIONS
---------------------------------------------------------
4.1 PRINTING LIMITATIONS

Sytos Premium cannot print to some Postscript
printers. If you are having problems printing a Log
file, Tape Set file, or README, save the file as a
text file from Sytos Premium, and send the file to a
printer from a word processor, the OS/2 command
    prompt, or OS/2 window.

4.2 RECEIVING ERROR MESSAGE E52 WHEN SETTING UP SYTOS
    REBOUND

If you receive the error message, "E52 - The tape
being accessed is write protected," when setting up
Sytos Rebound, ensure that the Sytos Rebound diskette
in your disk drive is not write protected.

4.3 PREPARING TAPES IN CASCADED DEVICES

If you are using cascaded devices as your configured
backup device, you can prepare only the tape located
in the first device of the chain.

To prepare a tape in the first device, follow these
    steps:

    Step Action

    1. Insert a tape into the first device.
    2. Open the Utilities window and highlight the
           configured backup device.
    3. Click on the appropriate Utilities pushbutton
to re-tension, erase, or format the tape in
the first device of the cascaded devices.

4.4 SYTOS SCHEDULER IS DEACTIVATED WHEN YOU MOVE THE
    SCHEDULER ICON

If you click on or move the Sytos Scheduler icon
located on your desktop, your scheduled events do not
run. To reactivate the Scheduler, open Sytos
    Scheduler and click on [Start].

NOTE: The Sytos Scheduler icon appears as a clock
when the Scheduler is activated and as a Sytos
Premium icon when the Scheduler is not activated.

4.5 REACTIVATING SYTOS SCHEDULER

If you open Sytos Scheduler after activating the
Scheduler, ensure that you click on [Start] to
exit. [Start] reactivates the Scheduler. If you
minimize, exit, or close Sytos Scheduler, your
    scheduled events do not run.

4.6 CLEAR AUTO-DIM TO RUN SYTOS SCHEDULER

If a scheduled event does not run at the specified
time, turn off the Auto-dim desktop setting and
    re-schedule the event.

To turn off Auto-dim, follow these steps:

    Step Action

    1. Point the mouse to an empty area on the screen
and press the right mouse button.
    2. Select Settings from the Open menu. The
           Desktop Settings menu appears.
    3. Select Lockup.
    4. If you are running OS/2 2.1x, open page 2
and clear Auto-dim. If you are running
Warp version 3, open page 1 and clear
           Auto-dim.

4.7 SELECTING QIC-80 DEVICES AS THE DEFAULT BACKUP
    DEVICE

If your QIC-80 device is not physically attached to
your workstation, do not select the QIC-80 driver as
the default backup device when installing Sytos
    Premium.
