                    Version 4.0
                    -----------

Version 4 introduces NoteWare's dialing options:

-- If the phone number is in a note: move the cursor to the number and
and press Ctrl P. You can also press Ctrl P if you want to dial the
phone "on-the-fly" -- just type the phone number in the "No. to Dial:"
   field.

-- If the phone number is displayed by one of your other programs: pop-up
NoteWare and press Alt-A (Application Dialer). Then move the cursor
to the phone number and press <Enter> to dial.

-- If the phone number is in a disk file: use NoteWare's file-viewing
option (Ctrl-V or F10) to view the file, then press S to search for the
phone number. Press P (Phone), move the cursor to the phone number,
   and press <Enter> to dial.

After you've selected any of the above options, NoteWare will redisplay
the phone number and allow you to edit it before dialing. Then, after
NoteWare dials the number, you should pick up the phone's hand-set and
press <Enter>.

Version 4.0 expands the Form option (previously Ctrl F). Pressing Alt 1
through Alt 9 loads any of nine forms into NoteWare. Alt 1 loads
NOTEWARE.FR1, Alt 2 loads NOTEWARE.FR2, etc. We've supplied a phone
message pad form (Alt 1), two phone/address list forms (Alt 2 and Alt 3),
and a daily appointment sheet (Alt 4). When you fill in a form, use the
TAB key to move to the next information field. The beginning of each field
is indicated by the character (ASCII 254). See MANUAL.TXT for
instructions on how to create your own forms.

Other improvements in NoteWare itself:

-- To print the current note: press Alt P.
-- For full-color screen capture, press Alt F8.
-- To search for the next occurrence of a string, press Alt N.
-- To make a block of text bright yellow: press F9 (Block), highlight
the block of text, then press Alt Y (Yellow)
-- If you make lists that have more than one column, you can move the
cursor to the beginning of the next column by pressing Alt L (ListCol).
-- The Note Number is displayed in the lower left corner of the screen.
-- Additional hotkey options: Ctrl `, Alt `, and Left Shift `.
-- To see the Alt-key combinations, press and hold the Alt key.

The new program COPYDTA will first verify that NOTEWARE.DTA is intact,
then copy it to NOTEWARE.SAV. If you put COPYDTA in your AUTOEXEC.BAT
file, you'll always have a backup of your notes should anything go
wrong with your NOTEWARE.DTA file.

All of NoteWare's utilities (note transfer, hotkey selection, time
format, etc.) have been combined into a new program called "The
NoteWare Utilities". NWUTIL includes an option to save a note as
an ANSI file. It also allows you to specify printer number,
serial port number, tone/pulse dialing, a dialing prefix, and
whether to add a form feed after each note printed.

When you register NoteWare 4.0, you'll receive a manual, a quick reference
card and diskette, and the following:

-- A program to print, delete & move notes you have tagged
-- A program to sort notes alphabetically
-- Calendar Maker (a perpetual calendar), which creates monthly calendars
   you can capture into NoteWare.
-- A way to personalize NoteWare's title at the bottom right of the screen

One of the printing parameters is "Number of spaces to indent". This is
helpful if you want to use a three-hole-punch, for example.

                    Version 4.0A
                    ------------
Version 4.0A allows registered users to edit (but not shred) Note 0.

Also, the following corrections have been made in 4.0A:

The dialing modes now properly support COM3 and COM4.

If you attempted to pop up NoteWare 4.0 over a graphics screen on your very
first pop-up since loading NoteWare into memory, the NOTEWARE.DTA file could
have become corrupted. This has been fixed.

If you press Alt P when your printer is off-line, the error message
is now "Unsuccessful", rather than the DOS message "Abort, Retry, Fail".
