The DiskSpace program is shareware. You may freely distribute the program as long as you include this file with it. If you use the program regularly and are interested in being notified of future upgrades to it, you should register the program with us. You may register DiskSpace for $1.00.

DiskSpace was written in VX-REXX 2.0 and requires the VX-REXX 2.0 runtime module (VROBJ.DLL) in order to function. Also, REXX and REXXUTIL must be installed on your system; both REXX and REXXUTIL come with OS/2. File DSKSPR.ZIP contains the VROBJ.DLL module; file DSKSPC.ZIP does not.

Although the program will list information for CD drives, these drives are NOT included in the overall totals or in the percent used. The program assumes that if the total space on the drive is greater than 4 million bytes and there is zero free space, that the drive is a CD and not a hard drive.

In order to determine whether or not the file system in use is FAT or HPFS, DiskSpace looks for the EA_DATA._SF or EA DATA. SF file in the root directory. If it exists, the drive is assumed to be FAT; if not, the program assumes it to be HPFS.

In order to have DiskSpace do a continuous scan of the available space, check the check box and press the AGAIN button. Unchecking the check box is currently the only way to stop the scan.

Thank you for your interest in our software.
