Installation
============

Workstation
-----------
Workstation installation does not require the user password.

If you don't let the SETUP program modify your AUTOEXEC.BAT file
to add the cc:Mail program path to your PATH environment
variable, make sure you modify this yourself after installing
cc:Mail. Ask your cc:Mail administrator if you're not sure how
to make this change.

If you see a warning during installation that the FILES setting
in your CONFIG.SYS file is inadequate for cc:Mail, modify
CONFIG.SYS so that FILES equals 30 or more. Ask your cc:Mail
administrator if you're not sure how to make this change.

Post Office
-----------
If you're upgrading from a Level 5 post office (cc:Mail for
MS-DOS, Version 3.15 or earlier), you MUST:

1) Run Version 3.15 of CHKSTAT and RECLAIM to verify the
   integrity of your database before upgrading your post office
2) Back up your database before upgrading your post office

VIM
---
If you received a warning during installation that you have an
invalid set of VIM files, you can copy the following files from
the Windows Platform Pack Program and PO Install Disk 1 to your
cc:Mail program-files directory to correct the situation:

    CCEDIT.DLL
    CCSMI.DLL
    CCUTIL.DLL
    CDVIM.DLL
    CHARSET.DLL
    MAILENG.DLL
    MEMMAN.DLL
    SMI.DLL
    VIM.DLL

Incomplete Installation and VIM Files
-------------------------------------
If installation is unsuccessfull, the VIM.DLL file might have
been renamed VIM.OLD. If this is the case, rename VIM.OLD to
VIM.DLL.

Compatibility
=============

Conflict with Sun-NFS
---------------------
If your workstation has two network cards and one of your
connections is to a Sun-NFS, you might experience minor problems
when running cc:Mail for Windows, Version 2.0.

To avoid these problems, disable the Sun-NFS either manually or
in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file before you start Windows.

Launching Ami Pro, Version 3.0, from cc:Mail
--------------------------------------------
If you want to launch Ami Pro 3.0 from cc:Mail using the Ami Pro
icon button, you need to edit the LOTUS.INI file first, as
described next.

1) Use any text editor to open LOTUS.INI from your Windows
   subdirectory.
2) Locate the [Lotus Applications] section.
3) Locate the following string: AMIPRO=C:\AMIPRO.
4) Add "\AMIPRO.EXE" to the end of the string so it looks like
   this:
   AMIPRO=C:\AMIPRO\AMIPRO.EXE
5) Save LOTUS.INI.

Working with Containers
=======================

When you delete folders containing 100 or more messages, you
won't see a progress update while the messages are
deleted. However, you will see a progress update while the
folder itself is being deleted.

DDE Macros
==========

The WINMACRO.ZIP file contains a number of sample macros
(including the sample macro from the cc:Mail for Windows User's
Guide) that show how to enable DDE with various third-party
products. This file is posted on the cc:Mail Technical Support
Bulletin Board (415-691-0401 [8-N-1]).

"Store to" Rule Option
======================

Page 175 of the cc:Mail for Windows User's Guide states that you
can store messages "on sending" in a folder or archive. However,
you can store these messages in folders only.

cc:Mail for Windows Release 2.01 Changes
========================================

This section describes the changes made in Release 2.01.

AUTOEXEC.BAT
------------
The installation program now updates the first PATH statement in
your AUTOEXEC.BAT file. To be updated, the PATH statement must
begin with "PATH", "PATH=", "SET PATH", or "SET PATH=". Other
statements containing "PATH" (such as REM PATH, SET BPATH,
and so on) will not be updated.

User Name
---------
You must use the format "FirstName LastName" when entering your
user name in Workstation Setup, User Setup, or on the
Windows|Properties command line. Do not include a comma when
entering your user name in these places.

Novell NetWare
--------------
NetWare users who are installing the workstation software from
the network must have file scan rights to the cc:Mail for Windows
\CCUSER subdirectory.

International Issues
--------------------
Accented characters now display in alias names.

You can now search message text for a string that contains
accented characters.

When you print a rule that contains accented characters (in the
name or content of the rule), the accented characters will now
print.

Spell Check now supports accented characters.

DOS 3.31 (and earlier)
----------------------
You can now install cc:Mail for Windows successfully under DOS
version 3.31 or earlier.

cc:Mail for Windows Release 2.02 Changes
========================================

Release 2.02 includes internal maintenance changes only. If
you're upgrading from Release 2.0 or 2.01, you need to update
only the program files; workstation software need not be updated.

cc:Mail for Windows Release 2.03 Changes
========================================

Release 2.03 includes Release 5.1 of the Administrative Utilities
and Release 2.05 of the VIM Runtime Set.

Changes to the VIM Runtime Set include the following enhancements:
  -The correct location types in the Address List are now shown
  -The correct caption titles for dialog boxes are now shown
  -The c:\windows\ccmail directory is not created if the user
   directory is other than this directory upon log in.

Correction to page 14 of the cc:Mail for Windows User's Guide:
The "Windows Platform Pack Disk 4" is now labeled "DOS
Administrative Utilities 5.1 Disk".

Also in the cc:Mail for Windows User's Guide, "cc:Mail for Windows
Platform Pack" should be replaced with "cc:Mail for Windows
Desktop."
