Notes on the SmartSuite Edition of cc:WPS
=========================================
The cc:Mail for OS/2 WPS User Manual covers all aspects of the
workstation software. Please refer to this manual (included in
your OS/2 SmartSuite) for more information. Outlined below are
the exceptions for the SmartSuite Edition.

The cc:Mail for OS/2 WPS workstation software included in the OS/2
SmartSuite is a full working version of the normal workstation
software sold in the cc:Mail for OS/2 WPS Platform Pack. The only
 exceptions are:

[] The OS/2 SmartSuite Edition does not include the Administration
Utilities needed to create and manage a cc:Mail Post Office.

[] The OS/2 SmartSuite Edition includes a demonstration cc:Mail Post
Office for those users who do not have an existing cc:Mail Post
Office and want to try out the workstation software.

For those users who have an existing cc:Mail Post Office or cc:Mail
installation, please refer to your network administrator for more
information on connecting to one of these existing facilities

Note: If you are the cc:Mail Administrator, during the installation
process, include the PATH for the existing cc:Mail Post Office when
 prompted by INSTALL.

If you do not have an existing cc:Mail Post Office or cc:Mail
installation and want to use the provided demonstration post office,
enter the following information when prompted by INSTALL:

 P.O. PATH: C:\CCDEMOPO

What's New in Release 1.03
==========================
Suppressing the Print Border
----------------------------
To suppress the page border when printing messages, add the
following line to your CONFIG.SYS file:

  SET CCNOBORDER=YES

Setting this variable to any value suppresses the print
  border.

Resizing SmartIcons
-------------------
To resize SmartIcons, set the CCICONSIZE environment
variable in your CONFIG.SYS file to one of the
  following values:

  SET CCICONSIZE=SMALL (for VGA monitors)
  SET CCICONSIZE=LARGE (for SVGA monitors)

Adjusting the Default Right Margin
-----------------------------------
On the Message Options Setting Page, you can now set
the right margin to any value between 50 and 80. (Select
Options from the File menu to change cc:Mail settings.)

INIFLAG Statement in CONFIG.SYS
-------------------------------
Install adds a statement to the CONFIG.SYS file to
run a cc:Mail utility called INIFLAG.EXE at startup.
This utility monitors the OS2.INI file to determine if
it's locked read-only. If INIFLAG detects that OS2.INI
is locked read only, it displays a message during boot
and removes the read-only attribute from the file.
INIFLAG also records this in INIFLAG.LOG, which is
stored in the root directory of the boot drive.

INIFLAG helps to prevent the OS/2 Desktop from
becoming corrupt. DO NOT remove the INIFLAG
  statement from your CONFIG.SYS.

Upgrading from Release 1.0
---------------------------
Do not delete your current release of cc:Mail for OS/2
WPS before installing Release 1.03. Just install Release
  1.03 over Release 1.0.

Once you upgrade to Release 1.03, you cannot return to
  Release 1.0.

Installing cc:Mail for OS/2 WPS
===============================
Note: If you're upgrading from Release 1.0 to
Release 1.03, see the previous section before
  installing.

You can install cc:Mail WPS from disks or from a network
directory, or you can copy the files after running
  INSTALL at least once.

Installing cc:Mail from Disks
-----------------------------
Refer to the cc:Mail for OS/2 WPS User's Guide, pages 14-16.

Installing cc:Mail from the Network
-----------------------------------
You can copy Disk 1 and Disk 2 to a directory on the server for
your users to install. To do this, create a cc:Mail WPS
directory on the server (for example, f:\ccmail\os2wps). Copy
all files from Disk 1 and Disk 2 to this directory.

Refer to the cc:Mail for OS/2 WPS User's Guide, pages 14-16 to
  install cc:Mail on individual workstations.

Manual Installation
-------------------
To perform a manual installation of cc:Mail WPS, first run
INSTALL.EXE from at least one workstation to decompress the
  cc:Mail WPS files).

  1) Copy the decompressed files from the successful workstation
installation to a network directory for other users to
     access.
  2) From the workstation, create a cc:Mail WPS directory located
on a local hard drive (for example, c:\ccmail).
  3) Copy all the files from the network to this new directory.
  4) Edit your CONFIG.SYS as follows:

     A) Update your LIBPATH to include the cc:Mail directory.
If you selected c:\ccmail as your cc:Mail directory,
your new path looks like this:

        LIBPATH=c:\ccmail;.;...

     B) Add the following statement:

        CALL=C:\CCMAIL\INIFLAG.EXE

Replace c:\ccmail with the directory containing your
        cc:Mail program files.

  5) Shut down and restart your workstation immediately.
  6) Go to an OS/2 session, then to your cc:Mail directory, and
     type:

MAKEOBJ /FORCE	(Note the space after MAKEOBJ)

  7) Shut down and restart your workstation immediately.

     The cc:Mail stamp appears.

If You Cannot Shut Down
=======================
If you cannot shut down during operation of OS/2 (with any
applications), or after installing cc:Mail WPS, press
  CTRL-ALT-DEL to restart your workstation.

WARNING: If your system fails to shut down, you must restart
by pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL if possible. DO NOT turn the
power off, or press the Reset button to shut down. Doing
so may cause hard drive or Desktop corruption.

You may be able to fix this problem by applying the Service
  Pack Upgrade (Version 2.11).

If you cannot shut down on a regular basis, your .INI files
may be corrupt. Please refer to your IBM OS/2 manual for
information on rebuilding the .INI files.

Known Problems
==============
This section includes a list of problems that have been known to
occur with cc:Mail for WPS version 1.03. A brief description of
each problem, along with actions to resolve these problems,
  follows.

Using Ami Pro and cc:Mail for OS/2 WPS
--------------------------------------
If you're using Ami Pro for OS/2 and Notes for OS/2, but want
to send mail from Ami Pro to cc:Mail (instead of to Notes mail),
you need to comment out the Notes lines in your WIN.INI file.
Precede each line you want to comment out with a semicolon.
(The WIN.INI file is stored in your WIN-OS2 directory.)

Logging Out of cc:Mail WPS
--------------------------
Currently, to log out of cc:Mail WPS, you need to choose the
File-Logout option from the pulldown menu within the cc:Mail
folder. If you do not log out of cc:Mail before logging out
of your server, this may cause a garbled screen in Novell 3.1x.

The workaround is to always log out of cc:Mail, then log out
  of your network.

Small Fonts When Printing Messages
----------------------------------
In some cases, after a user changes the font size in the
cc:Mail for WPS printer setup, messages print only in an
  extremely small font size.

To resolve this problem, install the PostScript driver for the
printer you are using, even if the printer is not a PostScript
printer. This should resolve the problem.

cc:Mail Printer or Font Problems
--------------------------------
The CCWPS.INI file contains information relating to your
printer configuration and fonts in cc:Mail. If you change
your printer or font, and they do not take effect after
exiting cc:Mail, then create a new CCWPS.INI file.

  To do this,

  1) Exit cc:Mail.
  2) Rename or delete your CCWPS.INI file (ATTRIB -r).
  3) Log into cc:Mail (which creates a new cc:Mail CCWPS.INI
     file).
  4) Select the appropriate printer or font size.
  5) Exit cc:Mail.
  6) Shut down and restart your workstation.

SmartIcons Do Not Function
--------------------------
If your SmartIcons do not function correctly, change your Mouse
settings in the OS/2 System Folder (System Setup Folder, Mouse
Settings under Mappings). Dragging Object should be set to
  Button 2 only.

  [cc:Mail STR#19171LM]

Wrong Message Displayed when Post Office has been Shut Down
-----------------------------------------------------------
If you shut down your post office using NPODOWN, cc:Mail may
report "Unknown error has occurred" instead of "Post office
  is shut down."

  [cc:Mail STR#19035RH]

Save to Draft Folder when Closing Message
-----------------------------------------
Page 22 of the cc:Mail for OS/2 WPS User's Guide states that if
you try to close a message that has not been sent, you will be
asked to save the message to the Drafts folder. This prompt
does not appear, but you can save the message to the Drafts
  folder.

  [cc:Mail STR#10464BD]

Storing Archives on IBM ThinkPad Optical Drives
-----------------------------------------------
Creating an archive on an IBM ThinkPad with a Read/Write
Optical Drive may cause OS/2 to end abnormally. As a workaround,
create and store messages to the archive on a regular hard disk.
If necessary, copy the archive to the optical drive. Then you
should be able to read messages from the archive without
  causing errors.

Can't Print if a NetWare Printer Object is Selected
---------------------------------------------------
Selecting a NetWare print queue as a printer object may prevent
cc:Mail from printing. To work around this problem, modify your
default printer object settings so that the output port is the
same port you capture in NetWare.

  [cc:Mail STR#18533JF]

Can't Install to or Access a Database in a Root Directory
---------------------------------------------------------
If you try to install cc:Mail WPS into a root directory (for
example, L:\), you see the error message "Error transferring
LOTUSEN1.DI$ to L:\, confirm access rights and free space."

Also, if you try to access a cc:Mail post office from a root
directory, you'll see one of the following error messages:
"Database file not found" or "Database file cannot be opened."
The workaround for both problems is to install cc:Mail to a
subdirectory or access the post office from a subdirectory
  (for example, L:\ccmail).

Can't Edit an Attached Text File
--------------------------------
Page 42 of the cc:Mail for OS/2 WPS User's Guide states that
you can edit an attached text file but you can only view it.

  [cc:Mail STR#19985HB]

Inbox Object Icon Animation
----------------------------
Page 83 of the cc:Mail for OS/2 WPS User's Guide lists the
values for CCNOAMIMATEDICON as Yes, No, or Off.
However, if you set CCNOAMIMATEDICON to any value, the
Inbox object icon will not animate.

  [cc:Mail STR#19641HB]

Deleting Folders
----------------
Page 72 of the cc:Mail for OS/2 WPS User's Guide states that
if you delete a folder (and therefore, all messages it
contains), you may still be able to recover deleted messages
from the Trash folder. This is not the case.

If you delete a folder, all messages contained in that folder
are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered from the Trash
  folder.

  [cc:Mail STR#20054HB]

Key Assignments
---------------
Table A-1 on page 91 of the cc:Mail for OS/2 WPS User's Guide:
The Ctrl-key combinations listed for Bulletin boards, Folders,
Mailing lists, and Private mailing lists work only when you're
  using quick addressing.

  [cc:Mail STR#19527HB]

Out of Disk Space During Installation
-------------------------------------
If you see an 'Out of disk space' error during installation,
you may be out of swap space. You need at least 3 MB of swap
  space to run installation.

If you see this message and have enough disk space, free up
space on the drive specified as your SWAPPATH in CONFIG.SYS.

  [cc:Mail STR#19480HB]

Saving Attachments
------------------
Page 50 of the cc:Mail for OS/2 WPS User's Guide states that
you can save an attached item using the Save icon button.
However, to save an attachment, you must use the "Save
item as" choice from the File menu.
