Building Reports: Loading a Report File
SurveyMaker lets you save all of your reports
as disk files for later use. This means you
don't have to repeat the process of scanning
a data file in the future when you want to
bring up a report you've already built.

After you select the menu option to build or
get reports, just set the report-control
workscreen to get an existing report. Supply
the filename for the report (SurveyMaker
always supplies the ".RPT" file name
extension) and SurveyMaker will load it.

You can also build reports of "virtual
populations," i.e. respondents selected by
scanning various data files with various
filter settings. By saving the various
reports as disk files, you can later merge
report files to create a composite report.

Keep in mind that a report file is not the
same as a data file. The data file has the
original response data, with all of the
answers supplied by each respondent to each
question. The report file, on the other hand,
has only the results of the report you
generated by scanning the data file. It is a
statistical summary of the data file.

You can print all SurveyMaker reports as hard
copy versions, or export them as disk files
with ".TXT" file name extensions. This
allows you to include them in other documents,
or to load them into your favorite
graphics/layout package and format them any
way you like.
