1. Using the Assessment Exams
------------------------------------------------------------
To become a Microsoft Certified Professional you must pass a
series of standardized exams which reflect your knowledge
and skill in planning, implementing, and supporting
solutions with Microsoft products. The Microsoft
Certified Professional Assessment Exams are designed to help you
evaluate your knowledge and skills prior to taking the
actual certification exams. Version 1.5 of the Assessment
Exams contains 14 assessment exams:

	* Microsoft Excel for Windows 5.0
	*  Microsoft Windows NT 3.1
	* Microsoft Windows NT Advanced Server 3.1
	*  Microsoft Windows 3.1
	* Networking with Microsoft Windows 3.1
	* Microsoft SQL Server 4.2 Database Administration
	     for OS/2
	* Microsoft Mail for PC Networks 3.2 - Enterprise
	* Microsoft SQL Server 4.2 Database Administration
	     for Microsoft Windows NT
	* Microsoft SQL Server 4.2 Database Implementation
	*  Microsoft Access Application Development
	* Microsoft Visual Basic for Windows 3.0 Application
	     Development
	* Networking with Microsoft Windows for Workgroups 3.11
	* Microsoft Project for Windows 4.0
	* Microsoft Windows for Workgroups 3.11

These assessment exams will also give you practice answering
questions of a format similar to those on the actual exams.
Because these assessment exams cover many of the concepts
you are required to know for certification, the higher you
score on a specific assessment exam, the closer you may be
to passing the actual certification exam. However, these
exams do not serve as actual certification exams, nor does
performance on these exams guarantee or directly correlate
to the success you may have on the actual certification
exams.

	Setting Your Name
	------------------------------------------------------
To set your name on an exam, click the Options button
on the Select a Test window. This will bring up a
dialog box that will allow you to enter your first and
last name. When you start an exam, your name will
appear in the test introduction and on any score
	reports.

	Starting An Exam
	------------------------------------------------------
To take an assessment exam, click on one of the exam
titles in the Select a Test window. Text describing
the specific exam will appear in the Description
window. To start the exam, click the Start Test
	button.

There is no time limit on the assessment exams. And,
you may repeat the assessment exams as often as you
	wish.

On-line help is always available by clicking the Help
button or pressing F1. Note that only the options
displayed on screen in the Microsoft Certification
Assessment Exams are available. You may
see some options documented in Help which are not
implemented in this version of the assessment exams.

	Answering Questions
	------------------------------------------------------
Specific instructions are provided for answering each
question. Read the on-screen prompts before
answering a question, to be sure that you understand
	what is expected.

If you answer a question incorrectly, you will be
given feedback indicating the correct answer. You
will be allowed to review previous questions and to
mark those you wish to review later, but you cannot
change your answer to a question after proceeding to
the next question. (You may repeat the exam if you
	wish.)

	Scoring
	------------------------------------------------------
After you end the exam, your score will be
automatically displayed. You can also check your
scores on each exam using the Scores button in the
Select a Test window. A record is kept of all the
scores for the exams you have taken.

The assessment exams are not scored as pass or fail.
The score given for each assessment exam enables you
to evaluate your knowledge and determine if additional
	study may be of benefit.
