GOHELP.TXT  -  Issue 170
========================

Thank you for purchasing GOLIST! The 20,000 plus routes contained here
are the more than 5000 current records and many routes from our archives
which may still be valid for getting QSLs from contacts made years ago.

If you want windows, "dazzle", colors, mouse support, etc., you don't want
this program! All we have here is a simple program that gives you accurate
and timely data. We are also going to tell you when it is out of date.

You should obtain a new file from us no later than August 20, 1994.

The data in GO170 will be considered obsolete on October 20, 1994. After
that date you will be asked to acknowledge that you understand the data
may be outdated. You will be reminded about once a month that the data
is old. Please read GOTECH for more details about using an obsolete file.

Hints about GOLIST:
===================

"Portable" prefixes:
--------------------
Sometimes stations sign with the portable indicator first, and sometimes the
same station will sign with the portable indicator last. Try it the other
way if you don't find it the way you heard the operator sign his/her call.

Stations who have operated from many different prefixes who have the same
manager for their operations are shown in our printed version as KH6LW////,
for example. We have deleted the //// in GOLIST. In this example, type
KH6LW without the //// indicator.

To recap: Try the lookup with the portable indicator the way you heard it,
then on the other end of the call, then with no portable indicator.

Browse feature:
---------------
You may type + or - (and then press ENTER) instead of a entering a DX
station callsign to browse several records each way in in the database.
When browsing from an unsuccessful lookup, be sure to browse both ways
several records, as it is not predictable whether your starting point
is the record just before or just after the callsign that was not found.

Browse only works when GOLIST is accessed directly from DOS. Browse is
not available via the "command line lookup" used by logging programs.
